3 OLDWICK -- Thomas M. Poulson died on Monday, March 16, 2009, at his daughter's home in Bradenton, Fla. He was 88.
He was born in Bedminster on Feb. 8, 1921, a son of Frank Russell and Rachel Shinkos Poulson. He had lived in Bedminster until moving to Oldwick in 1954.
He was a graduate of Somerville High School.
Mr. Poulson was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of technical sergeant. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with six oak leaf clusters and the Silver Star.
Mr. Poulson was a steamfitter, working as a member of Steam and Pipe Fitters Union Local 475 for many years before retiring about 20 years ago.
He was an exempt member of the Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department, which he joined in April 1946.
His wife, Elinor L. Melick Poulson, died Jan. 27, 1992, and siblings Mary Stephens and Fred Poulson also died earlier.
Mr. Poulson is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Poulson Mangone of Yarmouth, Maine and Marjolyn Lee Poulson of Bradenton; and grandsons Alexander Joseph Mangone and David Thomas Mangone, both of Yarmouth.
