Phylena (Philena) Myers Pancoast was born on 25 January 1911 in New Jersey.1 She was married on 6 February 1935 in Los Angeles County, California.1 She died on 3 February 1978, at age 67, in Fullerton, Orange, California.1 She was buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Los Angeles, California.1

Biography

James (Jimmy) Virgil (Patten) Wintermute was born on 17 March 1929 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. He died on 4 July 2012, at age 83, in Roseburg, Douglas, Oregon.
James (Jimmy) Virgil (Patten) Wintermute was a Helicopter Pilot in Los Angeles Fire Department.11 He was adopted. James (Jim) B. Wintermute, Jr. AKA James Patten

Born in Los Angeles, Ca. to James Wintermute and Phylena (Shines) Pancoast Wintermute.

Adopted by father' sister May Patten and husband, who was Fire Chief of Los Angeles.

Jim played the accordion and had his own band in High School. Upon graduating joined the US Navy and was a helicopter pilot stationed at Pensacola, Fl. Where he met the love of his life, wife Bettye. Together they raised two sons and a daughter. They were married 60 + years. along with wife and 3 children- he is survived by half brother and sister on his mother's side of family and half sister on the "Wintermute" father's side.

Jim worked as a helicopter pilot for Los Angeles Fire Dept. for many years and was sited in numerous news articles covering his courageous rescues. Heart health issues caused early retirement and family moved to Oregon, where he joined and enjoyed community clubs/activities and traveled extensively with group of friends all in their motor homes.

Jim was part of the Wintermute Family Organization DNA study and was linked to a few on the John George Wintermute's (Emigrate) son George's family linage.
