James Wallace Clough
Obituary

On July 7, 2013 our father - James Wallace Clough Jr. was reunited with his wife Freida Christine Armstrong in heaven. 'Jim' was born to James Wallace Clough and Edith Virginia Knight February 8, 1930 in Washington D .C.

As with all families during the depression, Jim's early years were difficult. He became ill with Scarlet Fever not once but twice, and survived. He started working at 6 years old with a paper route. As a young man of 12 he tried to join the Navy, but was turned away because he was too young. So he went on to serve his country during war time in a civilian capacity as a long haul truck driver from that age through 16 years old; moving loads of munitions from factories to ships bound for war zones. As back hauls he would pick up much needed produce going east.

After his hauling adventures, he spent the next several years working a long side his father, building the Ann Arundle Block Plant in Annapolis , Maryland.

These experiences strengthened and shaped his life, making him a good provider. He married Freida (Chris) April 24, 1949, and over the next 11 y ears they grew their family to 5 children.

He served his country in the National Guard from 1948 through 1951 when his unit from Washington D.C. was activated into the regular Army during t he Korean Conflict. They were sent to Camp Stewart Georgia where he was an artillery maintenance foreman, and attained the rank of Corporal.

Back in civilian life he worked as an auto body and glass mechanic in t he Washington D.C. and Maryland areas. As Chris' health required her to live in a drier climate, Jim moved his family to Deming, New Mexico in 1967.

Working with Lefty and Willie Uzueta at T-Brem Chevrolet which became Anderson-Greeman then Greeman Chevrolet. He then worked with Rod Pratz, t hen for Borman Motors and Sisbarro, where he retired.

He was preceded in death by his father (1972) and mother (1994), and his wife Chris of 45 years, and by his second wife of 16 years, Erma Davis.

He is survived by a brother Timothy Clough (Pat), and a sister Gayle Bender (John), his children: Rebecca (Becky) Scott (Eiland), Connie Hayes ( Robert), Rex Clough, Julie Jung (Rudolph[Rudy]), Nick Clough (Antonia), grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapel and Mimbres Crematory. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be at Desert Lawn Cemetery.
