DENVILLE -- Dorothy B. Hussa, a resident of Franciscan Oaks Lifecare Community in Denville, died on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006. She was 88.
Born in Newark on Jan. 24, 1918, she had lived in Irvington, Maplewood and Brookside. Since 1951, she lived in Rockaway, until moving to in Denville in 1999.
She was a graduate of Morristown High School and a 1939 graduate of Beaver College, now known as Acadia University, outside Philadelphia. She completed a dietetics internship at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston and was a clinical dietitian at Morristown Memorial Hospital and Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C.
She was a member of the American Dietetics Association and a member of the American Association of University Women.
She served as a first lieutenant in the Army during World War II, and was stationed in Washington, D.C., Valley Forge General Hospital and at Army hospitals in England.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rockaway and served as a deacon.
Her husband, Philip Hussa, died in 1991.
Survivors include one son, Philip Ted Hussa of Denville; three daughters, Jacqueline Thompson Foscolos of Mount Kisco, N.Y., Carol Susan Hussa of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Cynthia Thompson of New Milford, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Friday, Nov. 24, at First Presbyterian Cemetery of Rockaway, Church Street, Rockaway, at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Fairmount Presbyterian Cemetery. Relatives and friends will be received at the church from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
