Neil Carver

Center Point - Neil B. Carver, 64 years old, of Center Point, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, of complications of cancer. He was born on June 11, 1945, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Virgil Frederick and Katherine Margery (Chesmore) Carver.

He graduated from high school in Independence, Iowa, with the Class of 1963 and then, served in the U.S. Army in Germany. On July 5, 1975, he and the former Marlene Elizabeth Miller were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker, Iowa. Mr. Carver was a worker at Ralston Foods in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 35 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha. In his free time, he enjoyed watching football and tinkering around the house.

Carver is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marlene, 4 sons, Brad (Bobbie) Carver and Ryan Carver, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jeff Carver of Arvada, Colorado, and Dave (Laurie) Carver of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and 1 daughter, Shari Carver of Center Point, Iowa. He is also survived by his mother, Katherine Carver of Rowley, Iowa, 2 sisters, Elaine (Larry) Ague of Rowley, Iowa, and JoAnn Dillon of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and 5 brothers, Glenn Carver of Raytown, Missouri, Duane Carver of Riverview, Florida, Larry (Julie) Carver of Walker, Iowa, Wayne (Kathi) Carver of Independence, Iowa, and Merlin (Lynn) Carver of Lawrence, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Carver.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha, Iowa. Fr. Neil Manternach will be the Celebrant. Friends may call for visitation after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17th, at the Murdoch Funeral Home in Center Point, Iowa, where a Vigil Service and Rosary begin at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Casket Bearers will be Bill Gansen, Duane Bolton, Bill Hopkins, Larry Ague, Larry Shelley, and Marshall Chesmore. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Walker, Iowa, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18th.
