He married Jacqueline Oshier on June 16, 1973, at the First United Methodist Church. He had been previously married.

Mr. Kirby worked 11 years for the Massena Post Office.

He was a member of American Legion Post 420 and enjoyed his dogs.

He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, John Kirby, and a brother, Phillip.
