ZANESVILLE: Charles L. Foster, 92 of Zanesville, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Willow Haven Nursing Home.

Charles was born September 7, 1921 in Newark, Ohio to the late Roy E. and Ethel Dollman Foster. He was employed by Armco Steel and served our country and protected our freedom by serving in the U.S. Army.

Charles is survived by his wife, Josephine R. Matis Foster; sons: Charles D. Foster of Zanesville and Timothy Foster of Florida; and two grandchildren Susan R. Foster of California and Jeffrey Foster.

He loved people and enjoyed traveling.

Calling hours will be Sunday, March 9 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at The Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 W. Military Road. Funeral services will be in the Snouffer Chapel Monday, March 10 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Steve Harrop officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery at Portersville.

Robert Richard Gorla Jr., 54, of Swan, Iowa passed away at his home Monday, May 10, 2010. Services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 14, 2010 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home on SW 9th Street, with visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday.

Robert was born January 6, 1956, to Robert Sr. and Helen Louise Gorla. He was raised in Des Moines. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1974. Robert loved the outdoors, working on his acreage and walking in the woods. Robert was the Director of Facilities at Prairie Meadows. Along with his 21 years of service at Prairie Meadows, Robert was also an owner of various businesses in the Metro Area. On February 24, 1996 he married the love of his life, Nikki Besler.

Robert is survived by his wife of 14 years, Nikki; sons, Justin of Des Moines, Jason of Dubuque, Iowa, Josh of Des Moines, and Jim Besler of Swan, Iowa; sister, Cathy Lindsey of Des Moines; mother, Helen Louise Gorla of Des Moines; grandson, Zachary Gorla of Dubuque; and granddaughter, Hailey Gorla of Des Moines. Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert; and his grandparents.
