Harry E. Shumate

ZANESVILLE: Harry E. Shumate, 71, of Zanesville, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Adams Lane Care Center. Born January 14, 1938 in Zanesville, Harry was formerly a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are three brothers, John Shumate of Zanesville, Gerald Shumate of Zanesville and Jerry Shumate of Pompano Beach, FL; sisters, Phyllis Tabler, Betty Johnson, Linda Harris and Saundra Holbert, all of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Shumate was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Esther Parkinson Shumate; four brothers, Bill, Clarence, Homer and Samuel "Butchie" Shumate; and two sisters, Margaret and Ada Louise Shumate.

Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Thursday, May 14, 2009 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, 56 South 5th St. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

ZANESVILLE - Phyllis Ann Tabler, 76, of Zanesville, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at Adams Lane Care Center. She was born on November 26, 1934 in Zanesville.

She was actively involved in the community watch patrol while she resided at the Coopermill Manor. She sold Avon products for many years and was also a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, William "Billy" Abbott, Lawrence L. (Nicol) Tabler, Jr. and Jerry Tabler; one daughter, Luci Ann Grubbs; eleven grandchildren, Casey, Gwinda, Billy Joe, Larry III, Jerry, Asia, Todd, Tashia, Harry Jr., Shannon, and Paul; eleven great grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry (Gloria) Shumate, Gerald Shumate and John Shumate; three sisters, Betty Johnson, Linda Harris and Saundra Holbert; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Tabler, Sr.; her parents, Samuel and Esther Shumate; one son, Harry Edward Tabler, Sr.; five brothers, Homer, Harry, Clarence, Bill, and Samuel "Butch" Shumate; and two sisters, Margaret and Adah.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Dr., White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Gabriel R. Norris officiating. Burial will be in Oakfield Cemetery. Following the graveside service a time of fellowship will be held at Carey St. Mission 653 Carey St. Zanesville.
