KILLS HIMSELF WITH SHOTGUN
Frazeysburg man Complains of Hard Work, Then Shoots Self.
Charles Dove, 50, brother of William C. Dove, 72 North Madison Avenue, Newark, shot and killed himself with a shotgun this morning shortly after 5 o'clock at his farm home, one mile west of Frazeysburg, on the Frazeysburg-Newark road. The family was asleep at the time, but was awakened by the report of the gun. Ivan, 15, found his father slumped over on the well curb a few minutes later, with the gun nearby. Mr. and Mrs Dove had recently returned fron a vacation in Alabama and he was apparently in good health, although he has showed signs of nervousness lately. Last night he remarked to his wife that he "couldn't stand this hard work much longer." Upon hearing the explosion, Mrs. Dove remarked that someone probably was out hunting quite early in the morning, but as it was before daylight, she arose and went to the kitchen door and called to her husband, whom she thought had gone to the barn. Receiving no response, she sent her son to find his father. The well is located between the farmhouse and the barn. Death was instantaeous, the charge entering the head and tearing off the top of the skull. Surviving his death are his widow, Delpha Dove, two children, Ivan, 15, and Florence, 14, his brother, W. C. Dove of this city, and two sisters, Mrs Frank McKee and Mrs. Beard McKee, Hanover Rd. He had been married three times, his other wives preceeding him in death. The body was taken to Brice Baughman at Black Run, where it will be prepared for burial. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
