George W. Weldon was born on 14 September 1903 in Independence, Montgomery, Kansas.1,2 He died on 10 November 1977, at age 74.2 He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Montgomery, Kansas.23

Services for George W. Weldon, 74, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Potts Funeral Home with Rev. Robert McQuire, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veterans' organizations.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today. The family has estasblished a memorial with the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Mr. Weldon died early at his home Thursday morning at his home.

He was born Sept. 14, 1903 in Independence, the son of Arthur J. and Aditha (Ranes) Weldon. He attended schools in Independence and Oklahoma and served with the Army during world War II. For over thirty years he was employed by the Independence Laundry and Dry Cleaners, retiring in 1968.

Mr. Weldon was a member of the Baptist Church and local American Legion Post.

On Oct. 29, 1948 in Indpendence, he married Mabel (Pitts) Riedle and she survives at the home at 414 S. 14th.

Other survivors include four sons, Charles Riedle, of Pamona, Calif.; Forest Riedle of Independence; Bill Riedle of Beaumont, Texas; and Gregg Riedle of Kingsland, Tex.; three daughters, Mildred Beach and Betty Queen, both of Parsons, and Ethel Lewis of Borger, Tex.; a brother Bert of Fresno, Calif; four sister, Ruth Johnson of Parsons, Jonny Mae Fortier of Boston, Mass., Emma Winn and Margaret Luke, both of Porterville, Calif; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding in death were a son, a daughter, two sistyers and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers for Monday's service will be Chuck Riedle, Donnie Riedle, Carl Riedle, Larry Riedle, Ray Beach and John Forshey.

John was married to Ruby A Smith, probably only for a couple years.

Ruby A. Smith was born on 11 November 1916 in Independence, Montgomery, Kansas.1 She was married on 22 August 1936.2 She was married on 5 March 1994. She died on 29 December 2014, at age 98, in Tulsa, Tulsa, Oklahoma.1 She was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Montgomery, Kansas.1
Ruby A. “Burck” Wright, 98, of Tulsa, Oklahoma formerly of Independence, Kansas died Monday December 29, 2014 at the Leisure Village Health Care Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a. m., Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with Dr. Jim Burck and Pastor Gordon Small officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kansas.
Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 P. m., Thursday Jan 1, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p. m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence.
Ruby was born November 11, 1916 the daughter of William L. and Myrtle (Jewett) Smith in Independence, Kansas. She grew up in Independence attending West Fairview No. 60 School south of Cherryvale, Kansas and the Brechenridge School System.
On August 22, 1936 Ruby was united in marriage to Rudolph C. Burck and the couple made their home in Independence. Rudolph preceded her in death in May 17, 1969. Ruby later married Emmett C. Wright on March 5, 1994 they made their home in Independence and Emmett preceded her in death on May 19, 2005.
Ruby worked on the assembly line at Electra which later became ACC in Independence, Kansas.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Grace United Methodist Church. She was the founder of the Golden Oldies Single Club, and was a member of the Elk River Homemakers, the Royal Neighbors of America, and the Morgan Town Grange.
Survivors include daughter Ruby Laverne Deerman-Corterville of Wichita, Ks. son Dr. Jim Burck and wife Pat of Powhatan VA., and daughter Rose Patterson and husband Gene of Tulsa, Okla., six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and two Great Great Grandchildren. She had one grandchild that preceded her in death.
