Services for George W. Weldon, 74, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Potts Funeral Home with Rev. Robert McQuire, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veterans' organizations.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today. The family has estasblished a memorial with the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Mr. Weldon died early at his home Thursday morning at his home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1903 in Independence, the son of Arthur J. and Aditha (Ranes) Weldon. He attended schools in Independence and Oklahoma and served with the Army during world War II. For over thirty years he was employed by the Independence Laundry and Dry Cleaners, retiring in 1968.
Mr. Weldon was a member of the Baptist Church and local American Legion Post.
On Oct. 29, 1948 in Indpendence, he married Mabel (Pitts) Riedle and she survives at the home at 414 S. 14th.
Other survivors include four sons, Charles Riedle, of Pamona, Calif.; Forest Riedle of Independence; Bill Riedle of Beaumont, Texas; and Gregg Riedle of Kingsland, Tex.; three daughters, Mildred Beach and Betty Queen, both of Parsons, and Ethel Lewis of Borger, Tex.; a brother Bert of Fresno, Calif; four sister, Ruth Johnson of Parsons, Jonny Mae Fortier of Boston, Mass., Emma Winn and Margaret Luke, both of Porterville, Calif; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding in death were a son, a daughter, two sistyers and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Monday's service will be Chuck Riedle, Donnie Riedle, Carl Riedle, Larry Riedle, Ray Beach and John Forshey.
