3 Ruth Hazen Rhodes was one of six children born to Moses Hazen and his wife Fanny P. Corell.
Ruth was united in marriage on December 19, 1878 in Newark, New Jersey to Josephus Rhodes. Upon their marriage, Ruth became the step-mother to Josephus' two children. Ruth and Josephus were blessed with the birth of a male child during their short 2 year marriage:

Ruth was left a widow at the age of 31 when her husband Josephus committed suicide by hanging himself from his neck tie. His suicide note led his brother Hiram and friends to find him. Ruth survived her husband by four years, passing away at the age of 35. She is interred with her husband and his family.
