The Funeral of Mary E. Durbin Langstaff, 80, of Fairbury will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury, the Rev. Kirwin Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. She died at 4:55 a.m. Monday (May 12, 1997) at her residence. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Fairbury or to the Mary E. Langstaff Memorial Fund.

She is survived by two daughters, Katherine Aldine Langstaff (Mathew) Adams, Bloomington; and Mary Lynn Langstaff (Albert) Unser, Tulsa, Okla.; one son, James H. Langstaff III, Fairbury; one sister, K. Lois Durbin, San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Warren Durbin, North Hollywood, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kelly J. Kinate, Kandace Kinate Boudra, Sean P. McGivney, Jason Mathew Adams, Nicole Elizabeth Unser and Travis Jerome Unser.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Mrs. Langstaff was born April 5, 1917, in Hillsdale, a daughter of John Benton and Katherine Elizabeth Walker Durbin. She married Dr. James Hartzell Langstaff Jr. on Nov. 30, 1941, in Chicago. He died Sept. 27, 1990. She was a graduate of Hillsdale High School and attended Augustana College, graduating from Lutheran Hospital in Moline. She was a surgical scrub nurse, having worked with Dr. James Hartzell Langstaff Sr., Dr. James Hartzell Langstaff Jr. and Dr. John Merit Langstaff. She also worked as a registered nurse at Presbyterian Hospital and Cook County Hospital. Mrs. Langstaff was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury, and a 50-year member of the Art Club. She also belonged to the American Red Cross, the American Legion Auxillary, the Fairbury Hospital Auxillary, the Martha Circle of her church and the American Nurses Association. She was a 41-year member of the Illinois State Nurses Association.

UNSER - MARY LYNN

UNSER - Mary Lynn, age 60, passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 in Tulsa. She is survived by: her husband of 37 years, Al Unser; and 2 children, Nici and Travis. She was a loving mother, dedicated to her daughter and son in every way. Lynn was always cheerful, greeting every- one she met with a warm smile and a kind word. She was loved for her genuine compassion and gift of making everyone feel special.

She was an avid horse lover, enjoyed reading, loved photography, was an accomplished runner, completing the Fiesta Bowl Marathon in 1983, co-President of the Bishop Kelley Booster Club for 2 years and a member of St. Francis Hospital Alter Society and Bible Study Fellowship.

She is also survived by: her sister, Kathy Langstaff-Adams; and brother, Jim Langstaff; as well as best friends, Cindy and Kathy.

She was born on July 23, 1946 to Dr. James H. and Mary Elizabeth Langstaff in Fairbury, IL. She attended Fairbury High School, Ferry Hall Academy, the University of Miami and Brokaw Hospital, where she received her Medical Technology certification. She worked at Northern Virginia Doctors Hospital as a Medical Technologist for 2 pediatric allergists in Louisville, KY, as an Office Manager and at the office of Lynn E. McCaslin, CPA in Jenks, as an Office Assistant.

Rosary will be held 7p.m., Sunday, July 1, and Funeral Mass 10a.m., Monday, July 2, both at Church of the Madalene. Raymond E. Finfgeld, 94, Heartland Health Care Center, Henry, passed away early Tuesday morning, (July 15, 2008) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.

He was born Jan. 9, 1914, in Lexington, son of Edward and Frances Moore Finfgeld. He married Lorisdene Langstaff on March 27, 1941. She died June 1, 1989.

He is survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

He graduated from Lexington High School in 1931, and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Commerce and Business Administration in 1936. He was the owner and operator of Ray's Paint and Wallpaper Store in Streator for 48 years, from 1936 until 1984.
He also assisted his wife in the operation of Lorisdene's Antiques in Streator and at major antique shows throughout the Midwest.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from July of 1943 to January of 1946. He served in the European Theater with the 486th anti-aircraft automatic wapons battalion of the Third Armored Division. He participated in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe. From these campaigns, he received 3 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal and European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one silver battle star and one World War II Victory Medal.

He was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1942, American Legion Post 217, Streator P.P.O Elks 591, and the Streator Moose Lodge 372.
