MYSTIC, Conn. - Harriet Rowett, 88, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn. Mrs. Rowett was born Dec. 2, 1918 in Hamburg, the daughter of Frank and Hannah Grey Burcher. She was a lifelong resident of Hamburg.

Mrs. Rowett was a member of the Hamburg Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by a son, Gene Rowett. She is survived by her husband, Charles Rowett of Mystic; a son, Dale Rowett, M.D., of Noank, Conn.; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main St., Franklin. Interment will follow at North Hardyston Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to the service.

Helen L. Rowett

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Helen L. Rowett, 79, formerly of Sussex County, passed away Sept. 26, 2011, at Community Hospice in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Rowett lived in Walpack before moving to Lafayette. She was a very active member of the Lafayette 4-H Club, demonstrating and displaying her sewing and cooking abilities. The skills that she acquired enabled her to participate in exhibits at the New Jersey College for Women and the New Jersey State Fair/Sussex County Farm and Horse Show where she won the coveted title "Queen of the Fair." As a 4-H senior leader, Mrs. Rowett was selected as one of four delegates to represent the state of New Jersey at the 1949 National 4-H Club Camp in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Lafayette Federated Church for more than 20 years, where she participated in the choir and often sang solos in the Cantata's conducted by the late Rev. Carl Luthman.

Mrs. Rowett became a member of the Lakeshore Baptist Church of Jacksonville after retiring to Florida with her husband, the late Reed F. Rowett. As a member of the church, she devoted her life and energy to helping others. She was always baking cookies or preparing and delivering meals to those in need.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Linda and Don Arcamone and Sandra and Wayne Blohm; two grandchildren, Anthony and Benjamin; a brother and his wife, Ralph and Gail Layton; a sister, Jane Frey; and a special aunt, Doris Cooper; many nieces and nephews as well as a very special family, James, Peggy, Cecelia and Alicia Caraciolo.

A memorial service will be held at the Lafayette Federated Church, Lafayette, Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11:30 a.m. Additional information may be obtained by calling 201-483-7161.
