Mrs. Mulvaney, 88, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2004, at the Angelhaus Regional Basic Care Center in Aberdeen, SD.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mulvaney will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Little Flower Catholic Church in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. Gertrude's wishes were to be cremated and burial of her cremated remains will be at her husbands grave at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Orange, New Jersey.
Gertrude M. McGuigan was born July 22, 1916 to Francis S. and Gertrude (Loomis) McGuigan at Pittston, Pennsylvania. At a young age, she moved with her family to Jersey City, New Jersey where she attended Parochial Schools and graduated from high school. She also attended New York University in New York. Gertrude was employed as a secretary for several large corporations in New York City and in New Jersey.
Gertrude married John Francis Mulvaney August 21, 1943 at Jersey City, New Jersey. In 1950, they moved to Berkeley Heights, New Jersey where they lived for twenty years. In 1970, they moved to Rhode Island. John passed away in 1980 and Gertrude moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1981. In 1999, she moved to Aberdeen and has resided here since that time.
Surviving Gertrude are two sons, John Philip (Rebecca) Mulvaney of Aberdeen and Christopher J. Mulvaney of South Burlington, Vermont, one brother John Philip (Ruth) McGuigan of Houston, Texas and four grandchildren, Sean Mulvaney, Maureen Mulvaney, Christopher Mulvaney and Patrick Mulvaney.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her Parents, one infant daughter, Christine, her husband John in 1980 and one brother, Francis.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, Aberdeen is in charge of local arrangements and William R. Dangler Funeral Home of Summit, New Jersey is in charge of arrangements in New Jesery.
