Leta J. Friday, 87 of Koylton Twp., Kingston, MI. passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007 at St. Mary?s Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. She had lived in Koylton Twp. since 1971 and was previously from Silverwood area.

She was born February 18, 1919 in Silverwood, Michigan, daughter to the late Ross and Greta (Murray) Sarles.

She married Eugene Friday on December 14, 1940 in Mayville, MI.

She was a long time member of the Silverwood United Methodist Church, where she was the Church pianist and organist for many years. She was also a member of the I.O.O.F. Rebecca Lodge 53 and the Silverwood Lady?s Aid.

Mrs. Friday enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening, church activities and, most of all, her family.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gene Friday of Kingston, MI., Ken and Betty Friday (son) of Luzerne, MI., Allen and Carol Friday (son) of Mayville, MI., Lila Draper (daughter) of Marlette, MI., Rodney and Brenda Friday (son) of Kingston, MI., Russell and Martha Sarles (brother) of Clifford, MI., Hilton Sarles (brother) of Luzerne, MI., Neil and Alma Sarles (brother) of Silverwood, MI., Larry and May Belle Sarles (brother) of Gladwin, MI., Wilma Hendrick (sister) of Reedsville, PA., 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Arnold and Dean Sarles. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Silverwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronald Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be in the Rich Cemetery in Mayville.

Memorials may be donated to the Silverwood United Methodist Church.

Casketbearers are her grandsons, Chris Friday, Dana Friday, Kyle Friday, Rodney Friday Jr., Ron Draper Jr., Brad Friday and Jeff Schiefer.

Visitation began on Tuesday from at the Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette and continues on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of service at the church. Arrangements by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

Sarles, 92, a lifelong resident of Clifford, passed away Tuesday (January 27, 2009) at Covenant Health Care Hospital in Saginaw. He was born March 15, 1916, in Silverwood, the son of the late Ross and Greta (Murray) Sarles. He married Martha Friday on February 21, 1942 in Marlette. Mr. Sarles drove a truck for Millington Screw Co. for many years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Silverwood United Methodist Church and a 55-year member of the Burlington Twp. Fire Dept. Russell served as mayor of Clifford, as a council member for the Village of Clifford and served on the Burlington Twp. Board of Review for many years. He also worked for the DPW in Clifford, was a member of the Clifford I.O.O.F. and served on the West Burlington Cemetery Board. He is survived by his wife, Martha of Clifford; sons, Gary (Sharon) Sarles of Clifford, Melvin Sarles of Port Austin, Darrell (Loretta) Sarles of Kingston; brothers, Hilton Sarles
of Luzerne, Neil (Alma) Sarles of Silverwood, Larry (MayBelle) Sarles of Gladwin; sister, Wilma Hendrick of Reedsville, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold and Dean; sister, Leta Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burlington Twp. Fire Dept. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday (January 30, 2009) at the Silverwood United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service at the church. Pastor Ron Hutchinson will officiate. Interment will be in West Burlington Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.

He was a farmer and worked at Dalton Elevator for 31 years. He married Irene Snover on December 12, 1937 and she preceded him in death this past October 5.

Earl is survived by his son, Herb (Pat) Miller and daughter Dorine (Lyle) Luft all of Owosso, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his beloved Irene, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia Luft, son-in-law, Franklin Lee Luft, sisters, Doris Thompson and Mable Miller, and brothers, Lyman and Jay Miller.

Funeral services will be held at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 28, 2008 with the Rev. David Hudgens officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of memorial contributions to the family.

Mary was born on August 12, 1933 to Arthur and Winifred (Smith) O’Brien. She married Elmer on December 20, 1952. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she volunteered a lot of her time. She enjoyed visiting Shipshewana and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving is her Husband: Geo Elmer; sons: Martin (Judith Pletcher) Snover and Jim Snover of Anaheim Hills, CA. Granddaughters: Amy (Brad) Stevens and Ellexi Snover; Great-granddaughter: Destiny; Sister: Winifred Howard; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Arthur, Phil, and Richard. The family extends a special thanks to the Fisher Senior Care Center.

Mrs. Tompkins was born Feb. 15, 1900, in Hannibal, Mo. She had lived in the Portland area since 1942.

Survivors include a son, Jack, of Beaverton; a daughter, Betty L. Mohan, of Prineville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
