Barbara Lucy Page was a Ticket Taker- Fauntleroy Dock, Washington.3 Barbara Lucy Page Nethercot

Our Mom and Dad's beloved wife, Barbara Lucy Page Nethercot left this life on the morning of April 15th after waging a brave and valiant battle against cancer. She was mercifully called to heaven, but not before both of her daughters were at her side.

Mom was born to John and Marion Page in Minneapolis, MN on August 18th 1930. She often shared her childhood memories of growing up on the family farm in Eden Prairie with her 8 brothers and one sister during the Deprerssion. She is survived by brothers Calvin, Kenneth, Lewis, Walter and Ralph. Mom would tell of their small school "where my brothers were the basketball team" and remembering seeing truckloads of German POWs roll through the town during WWll smiling and waving. Mom graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1948 and went on to attend Illinois Wesleyan where she met and married Paul, our Dad, who had emigrated from England. They moved to Seattle in 1963 and to Vashon in 1973.

Mom dearly loved her job with the Washington State Ferries where she worked as a Ticket Seller at the Fauntleroy Dock. For 27 years she shared her smile, laugh and sense of humor with her co-workers and all who embarked from the Fauntleroy Dock to Vashon or Southworth. Mom had no attention of retiring and looked forward to returning to work. She will be greatly missed by all at "the Dock", especially by the canine passengers who looked forward to a treat she never failed to offer.

Mom was talented in intellect and gifted in music and creativity. She used to sing with a Swing Band as a young adult and shared her love of music, film and art with her children. Rarely would you find the crosswords in the paper before she had it finished and we knew better than to call her during Jeopardy. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed knitting. She adored her cats and her little mop-dog Agatha and was an avid and voracious reader of murder mysteries. Mom delighted in her grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them.

As she loved her family in life, she has joined the Angels watching over her husband Paul, who will continue to reside on Vashon, daughter Elsa Nethercot and grandson Zachary Sandoval of Knappa, Oregon and daughter and son-in-law Julia and Joe Fincher and grandson Jacob Fincher of Vashon.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10th, at 10 a,m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit on Vashon, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial at 10:30, also at the Episcopal Church. The family invites all who knew Barbara to attend either of both Memorials and asks in lieu of flowers that a donation by made in her name to an animal welfare fund/agency of your choice.

Mom's tenacity will live on and I'm sure as she left this life she told the cancer: "You can have my body, But you won't have me. For in an act of purest love My daughters set me free."
