Born in Albany, N.Y., Mrs. Smith moved from Waterloo to Stanhope in 1944. She was past president of the Women's League of Hackettstown Methodist Church and past president of Hackettstown Garden Club. She was recognized as a collector and expert in antiques.
Besides her husband, she leaves a brother, Paul Carroll, and a sister, Mrs.Thomas Doyle, of Albany.

Ronald Smedley, of Moon, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009. Devoted husband of Dorothy (Smith) Smedley; loving father of Dorothy Smedley (Steve) Klein, Ronald H. Smedley and William P. Flaherty; proud grandfather of James R. Smedley and Grace A. Flaherty; son of the late Harry C. and Verda Smedley; brother of Madelyn Flaherty, of Florida, and Chester (Patricia) Smedley, of New Jersey, and the late Herbert H. Smedley and Evelyn Rinehart. He was a Scout Master in Ingram for many years and a veteran of the Army who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, at the Remagen Bridge and many other battles as a gunner on a halftrack. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in the HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 1522 Coraopolis Heights Road, Moon, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by Judy Yeck and the Rev. Larry Homitsky. Entombment will follow in Coraopolis Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Methodist Church, 917 Beech Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
