He was a machine operator on the drill floor at Ingersoll-Rand Co., Phillipsburg. Previously, he served in the Army and Air Force for 22 years, retiring as a technical drill sergeant in the Air Force. He had served in Italy.

Born in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late Arthur and Susan (May) Slack.

Survivor: Sister, Anna Trine of Phillipsburg.
