OBITUARY:

PIERCE - Harold William Pierce, age 90, of Grand Rapids, born November 7, 1918 son of Albert and Grace Pierce passed away on August 17, 2009. Surviving are his partner and best friend, Marjorie A. Kurth; daughter, Linda L. (John) Szczepanik; step daughter, Barbara J. Knight; step son, William L. (Cheryle) Knight; step grandchildren, David J. Knight and Linda Knight Parsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jeanne (Knight) Pierce; brother, Arthur Pierce; sisters, Myrtle Moore and Nettie Alverson. Retired from Doehler-Jarvis after 35 years. Mr. Pierce enlisted in the Air Corps in 1942, served with Strategic Air Command throughout the Pacific as T/Sgt, set up preflight training cadey schools after attending L.S.U. and Superior State Teacher Colleges. The family is being served by Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service.
