Charlie Snover died Oct. 21, 1996. He was 94. He was a lifelong resident of Glenridge, N.J. He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Evans, and two grandchildren.

He prepared at East Orange [N.J.] H.S. At Princeton he was on our freshman crew, with the Law Club, and a member of Key and Seal.

After graduating from New Jersey Law School, he practiced law in Newark, N.J. He married Katherine Suckow, who predeceased him. He served on the Republican County Committee and was secretary of the Beaver Lake Realty Co., of Newark.

On the 1910 census, Charles was 7 years old and lived with his parents at 190 South 9th Street in Newark, New Jersey. He and his sister Marie attended school (1910 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 49, 6th Ward, 9th Election District, City of Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, sheet 20A, 26 April 1910). By 1920, the Snovers had moved from Newark to East Orange, New Jersey. They lived at 71 Eppirt (or Effirt) Street. Charles and his sister Marie were both still in school (1920 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 39, 5th Election District, City of East Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, sheet 9B, 9 January 1920). Charles married in 1929 or 1930, Katherine Sackow, the daughter of Waldo and Jean Sackow. She was born 14 May 1903 in New Jersey and died 30 January 1991 (Social Security Death Index). When the 1930 census was enumerated, Charles and Katherine lived with her parents at 669 East 27th Street in Paterson, New Jersey. According to the census, Charles was not employed. Waldo Sackow was an account. The Sackows owned their home, which was valued at $11,000. They also owned a radio (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 16-45, Block 605, Ward 5, Paterson City, Passaic County, New Jersey, sheet 17B, 9 April 1930). Katherine's social security number was issued in New Jersey in 1962. In 1996 when Charles died, he was a resident of Glen Ridge, Essex County, New Jersey (Social Security Death Index).

She was a member of the Adamston Community First Aid Squad Auxiliary; Pioneer Hose Company Auxilairy, Osbornville; and a charter member of Castle Temple, Pythian Sisters, of Somerville.

She is survived by her husband, James R, Snover, her father, Edwin Mikesell, of Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Badik, Osbornville; Mrs. Margaret Benjamin, LaGrangeville, N.Y.; and Mrs. Edna M. Nacion, Cedarwood Park, Osbornville; one son, Robert E. , Clay Center, Kan., and 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The C.H.T. Clayton and Son Funeral Home, Adelphia, is in charge of arrrangements.

A 1937 graduate of East Stroudsburg High School, she attended East Stroudsburg State Teachers College. She was a 50-plus member of the Alumni Association of East Stroudsburg High School; a 25-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star; a 50-plus-year member and a charter member of the Amaranth Court, where she served as past Worthy Matron. She also was a Democratic Stroudsburg Fifth Ward chairwoman.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Townsend and her husband, Douglas, of Stroudsburg and Sandra Gerkhardt and her husband, Philip, of Lehighton; a son, Barry Tretheway and his wife, Barbara, of Hilton Head, S.C.; a stepson, R. Marrell Snover of Saylorsburg; two stepdaughters, Cathy Ingraham and Julie Cookery, both of Beaumont, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. Carl Broock Weiss and his wife, Mildred, of Canadensis and Douglas Weiss and his wife, Eleanor, of Atlanta, Ga.; a stepbrother, Harry Weiss Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Farris Torres.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many, she will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday, June 14, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ralph A. Boyer IV officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.

He and Patricia Ann Steach were married on 8 July 1995 in Belvidere Township, Warren, New Jersey.3 He died on 25 February 2012, at age 74, in Palm Bay, Brevard, Florida.1,2 He was buried in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg, Monroe, Pennsylvania.1

He was born on Dec. 21, 1937, at Rosenkrans Hospital in East Stroudsburg. He graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1957, and was a volunteer for the East Stroudsburg Fire Department.

Mr. Snover was a U.S. Army veteran who served our country from 1960 to 1963. He was with the Army engineers, constructing runways in Vietnam. He also served in the National Guard in East Stroudsburg.

Throughout his life, Mr. Snover held positions at Patterson Kelly in East Stroudsburg, Fiorot Trucking, John Gibbons Trucking in Eddystone, and Cappriotti Trucking in Mount Bethel.

Before his retirement in 2009, Mr. Snover worked at Clayton Block, Lakewood, N.J., for over 10 years.

As a young man, Mr. Snover enjoyed being an active Boy Scout with his friends and his dad. He recalled going to Camp Weygadt in the Delaware Water Gap with fond memories.

Mr. Snover was predeceased by his parents, Margaret Tough Snover, Frank Jay Snover, and his first wife, Faye Whitmore.

He leaves his wife, Patricia A. Snover (Mobus), his children Polly Anna Snover, John Patrick Wastie and Samantha Joy Wastie; his sisters, Cathy Ann Ingraham and husband Stephen Ingraham of Texas, and Julie Cooksey of Texas; his niece, Sandy Morris; nephews James and Alexander Ingraham, also of Texas, and Roger Kunkle of Florida; and three great-nieces and one great-nephew. He also leaves seven stepdaughters and many grandchildren.

A full military service was held at the American Legion 117, Palm Bay, Fla. Final interment will be in Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

He was a lifelong resident of this area and member of First Baptist Church in Groves. He was also on the Executive Board of the Orange Gun Club, member of S.A.S.S., and Mayor of the Orange County Regulators.
