Irene J. Rogers, 86, of Monroe County, passed away at the home of her daughter in Tobyhanna on Friday, Jan. 30. She was the wife of the late Walter M. Rogers.

Born May 22, 1922, in Knowlton Township, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Naomi (DeFoe) Kimble and had lived most of her life in Morris County, N.J., and had lived in Monroe County for the past 3½ years.

She is survived by four daughters, Georgianna Cassat and her husband, William, of Brodheadsville, Sylvia Applegate and her husband, Jerry, of Eatonton, Ga., Joyce Casey and her husband, Daniel, of Tobyhanna and Linda Battista and her husband, Michael, of Stroudsburg; a son, Walter Rogers Jr. and his wife, Diana, of Phoenix, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Edward W. Rogers, in 2004, and a brother, Melvin Kimble, in 2007.

There will be a viewing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg. Cremation will follow.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

FRANKFORD -Melvin F. Kimble Sr., 80, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Newton Memorial Hospital. Born in Branchville to Frank and Naomi Kimble, he had lived in Sussex County all of his life.

Mr. Kimble served in the United States Navy and was a member of the V.F.W. in Newton. He had been employed by Hollins Manufacturing in Succasuanna for 10 years and had worked part time as a disc jockey for WSUS Radio.

He was predeceased by his wife, Christina, on Jan. 23, 2006.

Mr. Kimble is survived by his two sons, Melvin F. Kimble Jr. and his wife, Alice, of North Norwich, N.Y., and James Kimble and his wife, Jayne, of Susquehanna, Pa.; his daughter, Nancy Kimble of North Norwich; his sister, Irene Joyce Rogers of Georgia; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex Borough. Interment will follow at Branchville Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , 20 Mercer St., Hackensack, NJ 07601.

1935 was living in the Trenton Home for children. In the 1940 New Jersey census was living with Joseph and Cora Duell (Taken boy.)

Death was due to complications following a 2 weeks illness. He was born in St. Clair County near Emmett, Michigan, on June 20, 1886, the son of George and Mary Hammond Whiting and resided in Flint all of his life. He married Luella Timmons in Flint on October 2, 1924. Mr Whiting was a member of the First Presbyteran Church, life member of Flint Lodge No. 23 F&AM and a charter member of Lost Lake Woods Club. Mr. Whiting was a co-owner of Braden & Whiting Leather and Shoe Findings, 340 W. First St., which was established in 1920. He retired in 1941. Surviving are: Wife, Luella Whiting; a son, Raymond B. Whiting; a grandson, Jeffrey Whiting of Flint; 3 sisters, Mrs. Margaret Tyrrell of Royal Oak, Mrs. Estelle Wood of Pontiac, and Mrs. Bertha Knapp of Flint; brother, F. Milton of Lincoln, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews.
