CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Herbert G. "Herb" Freeland, 82, of 1785 Wisteria Drive, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center.
Born Feb. 19, 1922, in Elmira, N.Y., he was the son of the late Lester and Susie Snover Freeland.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude Abbey Freeland, in 2000.
He retired in 1987 as a contract negotiator.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, was a vestry member and greeter.
He was a member of VFW Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 and BPOE 600.
He was a master gardener for Franklin County (Pa.) extension and a member of Penn National Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Brown Freeland; two daughters, Denise Smyth of Alexandria, Va., and Jill Renshaw of Watertown, N.Y.; one son, Gary Freeland of Rochester, N.Y.; two sisters, Florence Hammond of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Phyllis Slocum of Horseheads, N.Y.; one brother, Stuard Freeland of Horseheads; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Richard Randall will officiate.
Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home and Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
