Mr. Lear, born in Perth Amboy, lived in South Amboy most of his life. He was a retired carpenter, having worked out of Local 1006, Milltown.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, South Amboy, and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve during World War II.

His wife, the former Violet Larsen, survives, as well as his son, John, of Morgan; two daughters, Mrs. Emma Sumski, and Mrs. Janet Cumber, both of Morgan; two sisters Mrs. Sadie Kemmerer of Plainfield, and Mrs. Miriam Toft of Perth Amboy, 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church on Frank Avenue in South Amboy, with the Rev. Donald Phillips officiating.

Burial will be in Christ Church Cemetery.

Attangements were handled by the Mason-Wilson Funeral Home, 241 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy.

Dorothy (Dottie) Bower (nee Bergen), 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at the Clare Bridge Assisted Living in Hamilton.

Born in Scudders Falls, NJ, Mrs. Bowers lived in Florence 24 years before moving to Hamilton. Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker and a member of the Florence United Methodist Church and the Methodist Womens Club of the church. She was a member and past president of the Good Neighbors Sr. Citizen Club of Florennce and a 40 year member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Trenton where she also served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Some of her many interests were arts and crafts and especially photography.

Wife of the late Harry Bower, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Harry (Skip) Bower and wife Phyllis Bower of East Brunswick and two granddaughters: Lynne Bower of Scotia, NY, and Barbara Bower and husband John Corcoran, of Waban, Mass.. Also two great-grandchildren, Jack Corcoran and Christy Corcoran.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front St., Florence. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Johnn Orr of the First United Methodist Church of Florence. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington. Relatives and friends may call on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Contributions in her memory may be sent to the Alzheimers Association, 11000 Lincoln Drive, W. Mariton, NJ 08053.

Funeral services for Gladys Mae Bergen, 20 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Bergen, who died in St. Francis Hospital, on Tuesday, will be held on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from her late home on Longshore avenue.

Miss Bergen had been in failing health for some time, but had just recently been admitted to St. Francis Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by eight brothers and sisters, Mrs. Verna Magnilli, Halifax, Pa.; Mrs. Dorothy Bower, Trenton, N.J.; Shirley Alta and Mary Elizabeth, Yardley; Edward, of Fort Bragg, N.C.; John H., Charles L., and Vernon L., Jr., Yardley. A grandmother, Mrs. Alta Bergen, New York City, and several uncles and aunts also survive.

Interment will be in St. Ignatius R. C. Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday evening.
