Lansford (Lanceford) John Bergen was a Boiler Maker.3 Private Family services were held today for Lanceford J. Bergen, a native of Pennsylvania, who died Wednesday at a Santa Rosa convalescent hosptial after a long illness. He was 86.

Born, reared and educated in Yardley, Pa., Mr. Bergen was a boilermaker all his life, first learning his trade as a
youngster working with his father on the former Pennsylvania Railroad.

He later moved to the West Coast, first working as a boilermaker for the old North Western Pacific Railroad in Tiburon. For many years he owned and operated his own shop in San Francisco, retiring to Santa Rosa in 1975.

Mr. Bergen was preceeded in death by his wife, Rosemary Bergen, who died last year. He is survived by two daughters, Catherine Clark and Margaret Miles, both of Rohnert Park. He was the brother of Henry Bergen of Summers Point, N.J., and Gladys Brouse of Philadelphia, Pa. He was the grandfather of six and the great-grandfather of seven.

Services were held in the Drawing Room of the Sorensen Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Cleary of St. James Catholic Church officiating.

Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in San Rahael.

Born in Harrisburg on October 15, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Elizabeth M. (Lear) Engle, was the widow of
William Clark Brown Jr. and was also preceded in death by a son, David E., four brothers and four sisters.
Mary especially loved her grandchildren and her pets.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol J. Murphy and her husband Charles and Kathleen D. Raley and her husband Edward both of West Hanover Twp.; a son William C. III of York; two sisters, Dorothy M. Rudy and Geraldine Cook both of Lower Paxton Twp.; five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, at 11:00 AM at Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 6011 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg. Rev Carol Parr will officiate. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be a viewing from 10 AM until time of service.

She was employed by the Perth Amboy Board of Education for five years as a school nurse. She was a member of the South Plainfield Senior Citizens, where she was formerly the publicity chairwoman, and a charter member of St. Stephans Lutheran Church in South Plainfield, where she was a member of the church's Ruth Circle.

She was a member of Eastern Star of Perth Amboy Chapter 58 for over 50 years and a member of the Perth Amboy Alumni Nurses Association.

Her husband, Russell E. Kemmerer, died in 1968.

Surviving are two daughters, Lois E. DeFillipo of South Plainfield and Joyce E. Colucci of Piscataway, and two grandchildren.

Arrrangements are by McCriskin Home for Funerals in South Plainfield.
