Mr, Hatfield was a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWll. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans and the Masonic Lodge. He and his wife owned and operated the Bass Lake Bargain Store.
He is survived by two sons, Lon (Janice) of Knox and Curt (Jean), of Monterey, Indiana, six grandchildren, one step grandchild, eleven great-grandchildren, two sisters; Margaret Harder and Madeline Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dee, one son, Kenneth, three sisters, Mary Hanak, Marie Novak and Eloise Gasser, the three brothers, James and Clarence Hatfield and Robert Eskridge.
Sevices were held Tuesday, December 12 at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox. Memorials may be made to the Starke County Hospice.
Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.

Services were held Monday, February 8, at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in the Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice.

Evelyn Virginia Hatfield, 77, died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Amazing Grace Personal Care in Magnolia, Texas.
Born on Oct.16, 1926 in Lima, Ohio, she was a daughter of Ballard and Cecil (Bowser) Wood.
A member of Saltgrass Baptist Church in Rockport, Texas, she enjoyed sewing, drawing, playing dominoes and cards.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Hatfield of Columbia City; Dennis Hatfield of Magnolia, Texas, and Phillip Hatfield of Portage; a brother, Duane Wood of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Hatfield on Sept. 23, 2000; and two brothers, Dale Wood and Ronald Wood.
The funeral service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. There is no calling. Burial is at Covington Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
