Alan B. Hendershot Sr., 55, of Knowlton Township, NJ, died on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton, NJ.
Born: In Newton, NJ, he was a son of the late Carl, whom died in 2002, and Lois Best Hendershot, whom died in 2001.
Personal: He was the husband of the former Cynthia Van Auken.
Alan was a self employed owner/operator of the Alan B. Hendershot Trucking Co. He was a 1968 graduate of Roxbury High School, Roxbury, NJ, and he had also attended Churchman Business School, Easton, PA.
Alan had served in the New Jersey National Guard from 1971 to 1975.
He was an avid private pilot, and he loved fishing, skiing, motorcycles, and his Thunderbird.
Memberships: He was a member of the Walnut Valley UM Church in Blairstown, NJ. He was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 70.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Cynthia, he is survived by a son, Alan B. Jr. of Belvidere, NJ; two daughters, Jennifer of Bergen County, NJ, Emily, at home; a brother, Steven of Blairstown, NJ; a sister, Denise of Hardwick Township, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
A sister, Sydell Shaffer died in 2002.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Internment will be in Hainesburg Cemetery, Hainesburg, NJ.
