4 James C. "JC" Hendershot, 74, of Blairstown died Friday, Feb. 15, in Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ.
He was a trucker and was active in the trucking industry in Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties for 47 years, retiring in 1990.
Born May 17, 1927, in Newton, NJ, he was a son of the late Samuel B. and Mayme Wintermute Hendershot. He resided in Roxbury, NJ, and Budd Lake, NJ before moving to Blairstown 30 years ago.
He coached little league baseball and was active in the youth sports programs. He was a private pilot and was a member of the Aircraft Owners Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association.
He was an avid sportsman.
His wife the former Lois C. Best died in 2001.
He is survived by two sons, Alan of Columbia and Steve of Blairstown; two daughters, Denise and Sydell Shaffer, both of Blairstown; a sister, Natalie Mooney of Jupiter, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Newbaker Funeral Home, Route 94, Blairstown. Call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Newton Cemetery in Newton.
