On Jan. 5, 1946, in Elkhart, he married Dorothy Furdian Goldy, who survives with two daughters, Sandra Kay Cauffman of South Bend and Sonia Dianne Britton of South Bend; a son, Robert Lee of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Fryer of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and Rosa Wheeler of Phoenix, Ariz.; four brothers, John and Robert, both of Elkhart, Lee of Greenwood, Ind., William Paul, died April 2, 1987. His mother, Josie Oritt, died July 11, 1987.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Warner Funeral Home, Osceola, where arrangements are being completed. Mr. Snedaker was a member of Disabled American Veterans 6, South Bend, and Bendix Local of the United Auto Workers union. He was a World War II Army veteran, having been awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.

BRISTOL -- John Wesley Snedaker, 86, of Bristol, died 3:50 p.m. Dec. 31, 2007, at home.

He was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Elkhart to Sylvester and Josie (Forman) Snedaker. He married Doris Spencer on Sept. 17, 1942, in Mishawaka.

She survives along with one son, Dale (Joyce) Snedaker of Elkhart; three daughters, Dorsey (Duane) Barnes of Sylvania, Ohio, Suan Barnes of Jacksonville, Fla., and Dawn (William) Powell of Bristol; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leroy (Lucille) Snedaker of Greenwood, George Snedaker of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Robert Snedaker of Elkhart; and two sisters, Rosa (Glenn) Miles of Mesa, Ariz., and Mary Fryer of Lawrenceburg.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Stephen; one great-grandchild, Anthony; two brothers, Frank and Paul; and one sister, Nancy.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Creation Fellowship, 30284 C.R. 10, Granger. Burial has taken place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Snedaker served in World War II in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked as a machinist for many years. He was a member of New Creation Fellowship Church and was a Charter Organizational Representative for Boy Scouts Troop 745.
