Born December 14, 1913 in Highland Park (Detroit), MI. Passed away quietly September 28, 2004 in Tucson. Ken received a BS degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Michigan State University in 1936. He moved to Tucson in 1968, and worked for Friedman and Jobush Architects and Engineers until retiring in 1979. Ken was very active in Boy Scouts of America for 50 years. He was an Eagle Scout who lived by the Scout oath and law. He held numerous positions in Scout leadership, earning the Silver Beaver in 1952 and leading troops to two national jamborees. Ken was a life member of B.P.O. Elks. He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1949 and was a current member of Sabbar Shrine Temple in Tucson. Upon reirement, he became a docent at Arizona Sonoara Desert Museum for 10 years. Ken's favorite hobbies were mentoring young people and building additions on his and his friends' homes. He sang in church and community choruses in Michigan and Arizona, and traveled around the world. Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mildred; and his wife of four years, Beatrice; sister Esther; and brother, Bill. He is survived by daughter, Linda Zuidema; step-daughters, Cecilia Gordon and Linda Leismer; and grandchildren, Terri Kay Helman and Brian Helman.
