Merle Laura Lewis was born on 12 October 1919 in Quakertown, Bucks, Pennsylvania.1 She and Allen Richard Erdman were married in November 1940.2 She died on 20 October 2017, at age 98.1 She was buried on 4 November 2017 in Kellers Church Union Cemetery, Perkasie, Bucks, Pennsylvania.1,2
Merle Laura Lewis was Sewing Machine Operator- Eagle Shirt Company.2 Merle Erdman, 98, of Quakertown died October 20, 2017 in Phoebe Richland Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Allen R. Erdman. Born in Quakertown she was the daughter of the late Warren & Mamie (Landis) Lewis.

She was a sewing machine operator for the former Eagle Shirt Company before retiring. For 75 years she enjoyed her pen pal relationship with Doreen in South Wales, England, never meeting because they both had a fear of flying. Merle was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Quakertown.

She is survived by a daughter Loretta Brugger of Quakertown, a son Larry A. Erdman and his wife Barbara of Leesburg, Fl. Four grandchildren Michael Erdman (Debbie), Larry Erdman (Kim), Catherine Bianco (Michael) and Sarah Brugger (Chuck). Five great grandchildren Abby Erdman, Mikey Bianco, Joey Bianco, Jim Hendricks and Mia Bianco. Predeceased by a sister Eva Kooker.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. in Keller’s Church Cemetery 3668 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA 18944. Arrangements are in the care of the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. Quakertown.

U.S. Army-Korean War- 15 Aug 1952- 05 Aug 1954.1 Charles Fenton Holcombe was educated St. Lawrence University.2 Charlie was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army from Aug 15, 1952 to August 5, 1954. He saw combat on the front lines. Died of diabetes. He graduated from Pebble Hill School of Dewitt NY where, at 6' 4", he was a promising football player until suffering a knee injury. He attended St Lawrence University where he associated with his father's fraternity, SAE.
