William Walter Aseltine was born on 24 April 1909 in Ingham Township, Ingham, Michigan.1,2 He and Irene Annette Potter were married on 10 April 1928 in Mason, Ingham, Michigan.2,3 He died on 8 April 1941, at age 31, in Vevay Township, Ingham, Michgian.1 He was buried in Fairview Cemetery (Section 1, Row 4, Lot 607), Dansville, Ingham, Michigan.1
William Walter Aseltine was a Carpenter.2,4 William Aseltine was born and spent his life in and around Dansville and Mason. He is survived by the three children, his parents, a sister, Mrs. Ione Mizner of Grand Ledge, and four brothers. Edmund of Eaton Rapids, Kenneth of Grand Ledge, Archie of Dansville and Robert of Webberville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Aseltine will be held at the Jewett chapel in Mason at 10 o'clock Friday morning with burial in the Hawley cemetery. The Rev. Charles McCreery of Huntington, Indiana, formerly of Eden, will officiate. Pallbearers willl be Beeman Potter, Homer Potter, Lewie Barker, Wayne Barker, Paul McCreery and Leon Smith.

Services for William Aseltine will be held at the Jewett chapel at two o'clock Friday afternon with burial in the Dansville cemetery. Rev. Homer F. Roberts of the Mason Presbyterian church will officiate.

Verlee Jean Aseltine was born on 17 December 1928 in Vevay Township, Ingham, Michgian.1,2 She and Lauren Carl Flick were married on 3 September 1950 in Leslie, Ingham, Michigan.3 She died on 14 November 1957, at age 28, in Bluffton, Wells, Indiana.1,4 She was buried on 17 November 1957 in Hawley Cemetery, Mason, Ingham, Michigan.1,4
Verlee Jean Aseltine was educated Huntington College.1 Verlee Aseltine along with her two sisters (Lorene & Marie) were raised by Lawrence & Mildred Osterlee after the death of their parents. She graduated from Huntington College where she met and married Lauren Flick. They had two children.

Death Takes Young Mother

After 2 years of sickness, Mrs. Verlee Jean Flick, 28, Bluffton, Indiana, died Thursday. She was the former Verlee Aseltine of Mason.

Mrs. Flick was a daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. William Aseltine. After the death of her parents she and her 2 sisters were reared in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Oesterle. Mrs. Flick worked in the Ingham County library at Mason while attending Mason High School. After her graduation in 1947 she entered Huntington College, Huntington, Indiana. She took a business course and after her graduation worked at Michigan State university.

After her marriage to Lauren C. Flick in 1950, she and her husband returned to Huntington where he completed his studies. For the past 5 years they lived at Bluffton where Mr. Flick is principal of Petroleum high school.

Mrs. Flick was a leader in Young people's work at Housel United Brethren church and in high school at Mason. She had an engaging manner which won her many friends. She was a devoted Christian, a young woman of highest character.

There are 2 little boys left without a mother. They are Ross C, 3, and Lex C., 2. Besides the husband and sons there are the foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oesterie; sisters, Mrs. Marie Anderson of Lansing and Mrs. Lorene Howe of Eden; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Aseltine of Webberville.

After funeral services in the Bluffton Baptist church Saturday morning, the body was brought to Ball-Dunn funeral home at Mason. Services were conducted there Sunday afternon with burial in Hawley cemetery.

Rev. Charles McCreery of South Haven and Rev. Earl Thomas of Charlotte conducted the funeral services at Mason. George Lantz, Raymond Shank, DuWayne Howe, Herman Leonard, Gordon Leonard and Ferris Leonard were pallbearers.

Lauren Carl Flick was awarded a BA-Mathematics & English/ Masters- Education.4 He was educated Huntington College/ Indiana University.4 He was a Principal/ Superintendent Cement City Schools.4
LAUREN C. FLICK, age 92 of Jackson, formerly of Addison, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Senior Moments Assisted Living in Jackson, Michigan.

He was born on July 28, 1925, in Greytown, Ohio to Rollie C. and Leona R. (Neeb) Flick. Lauren married his first wife Verlee J. Aseltine on September 3, 1950, in Mason, Michigan and she preceded him in death in November of 1957. He then married Patricia L. Kopp (Elser) on July 28, 1961, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2003. Lauren lived his early life in Lindsey, Ohio. He lived in the Addison, Michigan area for over 60 years. He was a resident of Senior Moments Assisted Living in Jackson for the last 4 years of his life.
Lauren graduated from Woodville High School in 1943. He received his BA Degree in Mathematics and English at Huntington College and he received his Masters Degree in Education from Indiana University in 1955. Lauren’s first job was teaching math at Petroleum High School in Bluffton, Indiana until 1959. He was the principal and then the superintendent at Cement City Schools. Lauren was an assistant superintendent at the Jackson Intermediate School District for over 25 years. Lauren was a “gentleman farmer” at his home, the Flick’s 40, in Addison and enjoyed all types of outdoor work and woodworking. He loved his family and was very proud of each child and grandchild providing unconditional love and support in any way he could.
Upon retiring Lauren enjoyed traveling to Germany, Alaska and Hawaii. Lauren and his wife Patty organized and led multiple mission trips to Malvern Jamaica over the course of the next ten years until Patty passed away in 2003. He was a member of the Heart O’ The Lakes Church in Brooklyn and a member of the Jackson Eye-openers Lions Club earning the Humanitarian of the Year award.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia K. (Robert) Spiess of Jackson, Lori A. (Stephen) Scouten of Brooklyn; three sons, Ross C. (Gloria) Flick of Lake LeAnn, Lex C. (Julie) Flick also of Lake LeAnn, Mark A. (Devora) Flick of Michigan Center; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Flick of Lindsey, Ohio, Dale (Grace) Flick of Lady Lakes, Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first and second wives and by one son, Jack V. Elser.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at Heart O’ The Lakes Church, 7031 Jefferson Road, Brooklyn, Michigan, with Pastor Dan Kopp and Pastor Kevin Cherry officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Addison. The visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Heart O’ The Lakes Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison.

Age 68, died Tuesday, Oct 15, 1991. The daughter of Carl and Rosetta Carmoney. She is survived by her husband, Donald Porter, Sr.; two sons, Richard of Lansing and Donald, Jr. of Tampa, Fl.; 4 daughters, Mariion (Wayne) Hiner and Carol Casanova, both of Lansing, Marilyn (Robert) Golisek of Paw Paw and Rosetta (Robert) Long of Mason; 3 stepchildren, Janet Schultz of Mason, Ronald Potter of Myron and Ruth Moffitt of Charlotte; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Lee Hilliard. Several loving foster children also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 17, 1991 at 7 p.m. at the Palmer-Bush Lansing Chapel with Rev. Fr. Tom Taylor, of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mid-Michigan Center for the Blind, 3200 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, Lansing, MI 48910 in memory of Mrs. Potter.
