Biography

George William Disler was born on 26 December 1863 in De Kalb County, Indiana.1 He and Inez May Amsdel were married on 31 December 1886 in Mason, Ingham, Michigan.1,2 He and Inez May Amsdel were divorced on 19 July 1917 in Calhoun County, Michigan.1 He was married on 6 September 1917. He died on 23 September 1928, at age 64, in Lansing, Ingham, Michigan.1 He was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason, Ingham, Michigan.1
George William Disler was a Grocery Store Proprietor.3 George was the son of John and Elizabeth (Hoover) Disler. The 1870 Census for George Disler states that he was born in IN in 1865. The 1880 Census states that he was born in IN in 1864. The 1920 and 1930 Censuses both state that Guy Disler's father was born in PA. The last name is spelled "Disler" in 1870 Census, and "Desler" in 1880 Census. The marriage certificate for George and Inez states that he was born in IN in 1865. The obituary gives his age as 57, which was an error.

George married Inez May Amsdel on Dec. 31, 1886 in Ingham, MI. His occupation was fireman in his marriage record with Inez Amsdel. They were divorced on July 19, 1917 in Calhoun County. George remarried Eva Wheeler on Sep. 6, 1917. The marriage record for George and Eva Wheeler states that George was a machinist at the time. It gives his birth place as De Kalb County, Indiana.

His obituary is in the State Journal and Eaton Rapids Journal. Both obituaries explain that he was hit by a car and died from injuries. The Eaton Rapids Journal says that a car hit his buggy on US-16. This person was thought to have been drinking. Then while he was trying to fix the buggy, he was hit by another car. The obituary in the State Journal erroneously gave his age as 57. The death certificate states that George was killed by an auto accident on M-16.

The death certificate for George says that he was born in MI on Dec. 25, 1863. He died at age 64 years, 8 months and 28 days. Using a genealogy calculator, this indicates a birth date of Dec. 26, 1863 rather than Dec. 25, 1863. It lists Blanche Disler as spouse and informant. This is an error. She was his daughter-in-law, not his wife. According to family information, George was killed by a drunk driver. George is buried near his parents John and Elizabeth Disler on Sep. 25, 1928..
