Edward Joseph Madden, Jr., 86, of Shrewsbury died yesterday at home.

A service will be 11 a.m. tomorrow in the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank.

Mr. Madden was a general claims agent for Transport of New Jersey, Maplewood, before retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the Brass Club of Transport of New Jersey, president of the Methodist Couples Bible Club at United Methodist Church of Red Bank, and a member of the Elks Club Red Bank.

Born in Newark, he lived in Kearny before moving to Shrewsbury 34years ago.

Surving are Janet his wife of 62 years; a son, Edward; a daughter, Diane McIntyre, and four grandchildren.

WESTPORT, Conn. -- A private memorial service will be scheduled for Edward C. Madden, 60, of Westport, a former New Jersey resident, who died here Jan. 9 in the Westport Health Care Center.

Mr. Madden owned Madden Associates, an executive search firm in Connecticut.

He was a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts.

Born in Kearny, N.J., he lived in Westport for many years.

Surviving are daughters, Meghan and Katherine; his mother, Janet Madden, and a sister, Diane McIntyre.
