Evelyn Mae Frutchey, 95, of Tobyhanna, died Saturday, Dec. 26, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late James H. Frutchey Sr.

Born in Tobyhanna, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Martha (Kohn) Huey.

Evelyn graduated from Coolbaugh Consolidated High School and was a member of Tobyhanna United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and also loved to do crossword puzzles and crochet. Evelyn was an excellent cook and baker. She always taught her grandchildren valuable lessons of life and was affectionately known as the "Gramma of Keystone Lane."

Evelyn is survived by one son, James H. Frutchey Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Tobyhanna; one daughter, Suzanne Olechnicki and her husband, Thomas, of Enfield, Conn.; one brother, Alfred M. Huey of Gouldsboro; one sister, Ruth Adkins of Fairfax, Va.; four grandchildren, Lori Yocum and her fiancé, Dennis Noonan, of Tobyhanna, James Frutchey III and his wife, Amy, of Tobyhanna, Xan McGivney and her husband, Raymond, of Massachusetts and Kasia Frenette and her husband, Drew, of Massachusetts; 11 great-grandchildren, James and Rebekah Frutchey, Robert, Kaitlin and Allayna Yocum, Aelish, Rylin, and Malleigh McGivney, and Damon, Nathan and Addison Frenette; and her dearest and best friend, Emily Pope of Tobyhanna.

In addition to her husband, James, and her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Clarence and Arthur Huey, and one sister, Dorothy Dower.

Private funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas Daniel and private cremation is entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Tobyhanna United Methodist Church, 302 Ross Road, Tobyhanna, PA 18466, or to the Pocono Mountain Public Library, 5540 Memorial Blvd., Tobyhanna, PA 18466-8942.

Born in Laflin, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Hazel Featherman Transue. She was a graduate of the Beaumont School. She was office manager for Kunkle Motors. She was a member of the Alderson United Methodist Church, where she served as organist/pianist and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member and past matron of Order of the Eastern Star Dallas Chapter, 396, past district deputy grand matron district 21, Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania and past grand representative to the state of Oregon and Rainbow adviser. She was a member of the Orpheus Choral Society, Wilkes-Barre and Irem Women's Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by brother, Russell Transue; sister, Madeline LaBarre. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Daniel E.; son, Roy, Florida; daughter, Joyce Soska, Harding; grandchildren, Susan Lauer, Timothy Haddle, Royann Scott, Eugene Meeker , Mary Ann Milbrodt, James ``Bill'' Haddle III, Daniel Haddle and seven other grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas. Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. Eastern Star services Monday 8 p.m.
