Harvey W. Garrison, 82, a former Stephenson, Mich., resident who had been living at Rennes Health Care Center-East in Peshtigo, Wis., went to his eternal rest on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Rennes Health Center. Harvey was born on October 27, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Albert and Myrtle (Lambert) Garrison.
Harvey married the former Patricia Ann Joerin on July 1, 1961, in Detroit, Mich., she preceded him in death on May 10, 2002. Harvey was a member of the Church of God. He worked for the DNR as a fire officer for 19 years, retiring in 1989. While working at the DNR, Harvey helped with the reintroduction of the turkeys to the Upper Peninsula. Many children from years past also know him as "Smokey The Bear." Some of his most cherished times were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harvey is survived by four daughters: Cheryl (Dennis) Werner of Menominee, Mich., Karen (Scott) Sebero of Iron River, Mich., Kathy (Trevor) Jones of Clover, S.C. and Elizabeth (Dan) Marzian of Menominee, Mich.; five sons: Bill (Ann) Garrison of Marinette, Wis., Timothy Garrison of Menominee, Mich., Matthew (Patti) Garrison of Menominee, Mich., Jonathan (Lisa) Garrison of Golf Port, Miss. and Jason (fiancé Jennifer Black) Garrison of Freedom, Wis.; 22 grandchildren; and one brother, Roy Garrison of Utica, Mich. Along with his parents and his wife, Harvey was preceded in death by one son, Mark; two grandchildren: Gregory and Amanda and four brothers.
Friends may call at the CADIEU FUNERAL HOME from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home.
The Rev. Robert Jewett will officiate and burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Marinette, Wis. Serving as honorary Pall-Bearers will be Josh Ainge, William Garrison Jr., Edmond Garrison, Larry Garrison, Chad Vargo, and Kyle Vargo.
