ITHACA - Shawn M. Saville, 35, of Putnam Parkway, Venice Center, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 6, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday (October 11), at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Genoa, with the Rev. James F. Main officiating. Interment will be in Venice Center Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 10117 Route 90, Genoa, on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.

Richard Dean Besser was a President of Many Companies.2,1 He was educated University of Chicago- MBA. SAVANNAH - Richard Dean Besser, 65,of Savannah, Ga., formerly of Woodstock, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at the Memorial Health University Hospital in Georgia.

He was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Chicago, to Herman and Arlaine (Bentz) Besser.

He moved to Woodstock at an early age. He was raised in Woodstock and was a 1953 graduate of Woodstock High School. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Armed Services.

After obtaining his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and his MBA from the University of Chicago, he started his career with Inland Steel Co. He went on to become president and chief executive officer of a number of companies, including Warner and Swasey, Schuler Inc.; Seaco Inc. and Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. As an industry leader, he was called upon to testify before the U.S. House of Representatives' ways and Means Committee several times. His leadership abilities also led to many accomplishments in civic and philanthropic activities.

In 1998, he traveled to Bulgaria with Citizens of the Democratic Corps, where he gave executive assistance to struggling corporate enterprises in Eastern Europe. Although semi-retired, he was an active consultant with Full Circle Investment Inc. and was a director of several of its companies.

Mr. Besser is survived by his wife, Patricia of Savannah; his children, Mark Besser of Savannah and Tamara (Paul) Besser Gilbert of Chicago; two grandchildren, Olivia and Irene Gilbert of Chicago; a sister, Roxann Turner of Elgin; his mother of Elgin; his father-in-law, William P. Rimer of Merrillville, Ind.; a brother-in-law, William E. (Janice) Rimer of Crown Point, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Bonnie (Rich) Bekelya of Crown Point; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8; p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock. The funeral will be at 11 a.m Saturday, Feb. 19, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock.

A memorial service will be conducted in Savannah at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Sarah Overton1

Biography

Sarah Overton was born in 1844 in Pennsylvania.1,2 She died on 2 January 1901, at age ~57, in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.1,2 She was buried in Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.2
Sarah Overton was a Teacher.2 Sarah Overton Robins was the widow of Elias Robins. Mr. Robins had passed away in 1887. Both are buried in Hollenback Cemetery. Sarah was born in 1844 and died on January 2, 1901 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon at her residence, 114 Academy Street, Wilkes-Barre. Before her marriage to Elias Robins, her first and his second, Sarah taught in the local schools where she was known as Miss Sallie Overton. Sarah apparently died as a result of stroke or heart attack, as the death was sudden and with no warning.

Sarah was a lineal descendant of Gen. Robert Overton, who held a command in the forces of Oliver Cromwell. The Overton family hailed from Long Island, NY ancestry and Revolutionary War fame. Her mother, Sarah Jane Wood of Orange County, NY also came from an equally distinguished family in the early annuls of New York State.

Mrs. Robins was survived by her step-daughter Miss Mary Robins; a sister Miss Frances Overton; brother Lewis C. Overton; and a niece, Miss Blanche Overton; all resided with her in Wilkes-Barre. She is also survived by two married sisters, Mrs. N.B Crary of Shickshinny and Mrs. Morrow, who resides in Louisiana.

Sarah's funeral was held at 2 o'clock on January 4, 1901 from her home on Academy Street. Rev. Dr. Pearce of the First Methodist Church officiated and was assisted by Rev. Mr. Reasoner. The pall bearers were John Thompson, J.K. Powell, John Hance, J.F. Patterson, George Bell, and Christian Walter. Out-of-town relatives present were: N.B. Crary and daughter Sarah of Shickshinny; Miss Helen Overton, Bellefonte; Mr. & Mrs. Frank Van Tuyle, Pittstown; and E. Robins Morgan of Lehigh University.
