He was the fire inspector for Lafayette Township, Hampton Township, and Andover Borough. . He was a member of the Building Officer's Code Administration. He was past member and leader of the 4-H State Harmony Dairy Club and Tractor Club. Also a member of the Lafayette Federated Church .

He was predeceased by his parents, Eva and Gill, and a brother; Robert Paul.

After growing up on the family farm in Lafayette, Uncle Pete wanted to see the world and enlisted in the United States Army, were he proudly served for over 21 years, including service in Vietnam. After his time in the Army, Uncle Pete finally settled in Washington State and worked for the US Postal Service for 20 years and was known to many as "Postal Pete."

Uncle Pete continued to enjoy traveling and made many trips back home to New Jersey to attend various family and class reunions and visit friends and family. He also enjoyed writing and and sharing his stories with others. Two of his books were published, Farm Life and Army Life which recounted his days growing up on a farm in Sussex County, New Jersey and his days in the Army.

Uncle Pete passed away during a medical procedure at Good Samaritan Hospital. His heart hadn't been able to handle the stress of the procedure.

Uncle Pete was predeceased by his parents, Eva and Gil. he was also predeceased by his three brothers, John, Frank and Robert Paul, his nephew Christopher and two infant sons.

Survivors include his beloved wife Patricia (Eaton) Demarest, his children Frances, Katherine, Pamela and David. He was also survived by his brothers David and Gilliyaum and sisters Margaret and Caroline, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Per Uncle Pete's request, there was no memorial service and he was cremated and buried in the National Veteran's Cemetery in Washington state.

A man of many stories, I'm sure he has a captive audience above and will be forever missed by the audience he left behind. Love ya Uncle Pete!
