Jean K. Utz was a Michigan Bell Telephone Operator.1 ~~ Burns, Jean K. (Utz) Of Jackson, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born in Hastings, MI on January 4, 1936 to John H. Utz and Monabelle E. (Swan) Utz. Jean is survived by her children, Robin C. (David) Showerman, Karen J. (Bill) Ausler, and Matthew J. Burns (Melba Fernandez); daughter-in-law Jackey S. Burns, grandchildren, Rebekah J. Showerman (Marty Mehan), Caleb B. Showerman, Robert C. Burns IV, Meagan L. Burns, and James, Jamiel, and Jamiela Fernandez; and great-granddaughter Lilly M. Mehan. Jean is also survived by two sisters, Doris L. Carter of Jackson and Ann M. Cornell of Lansing, three brothers, Paul K. Utz (Judie) of Jackson, David R. Utz of Jacksonville, AR, and Carlton G. Utz (Gail) of Jackson, sister-in-law Rose M. Adams, brother-in-laws George W. (Mary) Burns, and Timothy L. Burns, and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 55 years, Robert C. Burns Jr., her precious son, Robert C. Burns III, her infant grandson Benjamin D. Showerman, sister Kay E. Klinger, and brothers, Bruce E. Utz, John D. Utz, Dean A. Utz, and Robert E. Utz.

Jean was employed for several years as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell. She enjoyed many years of cooking, baking, food preservation, reading, word search puzzles, camping, flower gardening, bird watching, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Affordable Memorial Services by Wetherby, 402 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 3-7pm. Funeral services will also be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00am with Reverend Edwin Utz and Reverend Don Deaver officiating. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Grass Lake.

Of Jackson, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility, surrounded by his loving family. Bob's family would like to thank the staff on Unit 4 for their compassionate care of him during his residency at the facility. Robert was born in Grass Lake, Michigan on December 3, 1930 to Robert C. Burns Sr. and Mary C. (Deaver) Burns. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 55 years 9 months, Jean K. (Utz) Burns. Robert is also survived by four children, Robin C. (David) Showerman, Karen J. (Bill) Ausler, Robert C. (Jackey) Burns III, Matthew J. (Heidi) Burns; four grandchildren, Rebekah J. Showerman, Caleb B. Showerman, Robert C. Burns IV, Meagan L. Burns. Robert is also survived by two sisters, Mary Belle Polmounter of Allen Park and Rose M. (Carl) Adams of Jackson; two brothers, George W. (Mary Lee) Burns of Wasilla, Alaska, Timothy L. Burns of Apopka, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Burns Sr. and Mary C. Burns; first grandson, Benjamin D. Showerman; brothers, James L. Burns, Thomas E. Burns and John R. Burns; and sister, Ruth A. Maxson. Bob retired from the Chelsea Chrysler Proving Grounds and was previously employed by Mechanical Products for many years. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and a Purple Heart recipient following his service in the Korean War. Bob loved auto restoration and auto mechanical work. He enjoyed camping, especially in Northern Michigan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. Bob was a longtime member of the Grass Lake Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Wetherby Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Deaver and Reverend Edwin Utz officiating, followed by a graveside service at Oakwood East Cemetery in Grass Lake. A military service will be provided by the American Legion Ritual Team. Interment will take place at Oakwood East Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to share a meal and memories of Bob at the Ganson Street Baptist Church, 637 W. Ganson Street, Jackson, following the services. Visitation services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The family would also like to thank Rosemary and Lois from Allegiance Hospice for their care and support during the last few months. Marlene Joan Swan was a State Employees Credit Union/ MSU Police Department Supervisor.3 Marlene, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Saturday. She was born to Russell and Nila Swan.

She was preceded by her parents and her sister Madeline Rogers. She was a lifelong resident of Lansing and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in June, 1953.

Marlene was employed for several years at State Employees Credit Union and also worked at MSU Police Department, as a supervisor, until her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister; nephews and nieces; several great nephews and nieces, and many special friends.

A Memorial Service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, East Lansing, MI on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Pastor Richard Moe officiated.
