Paul H. Meas of the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township and formerly of Perkasie, Pa., died Saturday, July 8, 2006 in his home. He was 92. He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Benner) Meas. The couple would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on July 10. Born in Quakertown, Pa., he was the son of the late Otto and Rose (Weiss) Meas. Mr. Meas had been a drummer and singer with the Percy Wagner and Mickey Meyers Orchestra in the 1930s, as well as the Allentown and George Doddy Orchestra of Bethlehem and the Fred Wrigley Orchestra. He and his wife co-owned, published and distributed the Quakertown News Bee and later were proprietors of the former Benners Market, Perkasie, from 1955 until retiring in 1976. He and his wife also enjoyed singing together with the Off Beats from Perkasie. He loved woodworking and making things with his creative mind, including his pride-and-joy model train display and miniature amusement park that many visitors enjoyed seeing in their home. Mr. Meas was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie.
Survivors: With his wife are two daughters, Faye E. Badman and her husband, Richard, of Perkasie and Paula A. Kelly and her husband, Robert, of Bethany Beach, Del.; four grandsons, Gerry Mason of New Hope, Pa., Timothy Mason and his wife, Caroline Mattson, of Mount Pleasant, S.C. Ethan Badman and his wife, Lonna Murphy, of Verona, N.J. and Erik Badman and his wife, Lianne Hartman, of Ambler, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Dermot Badman and Bryanna Mason.
Services: memorial, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006 in the Rockhill Mennonite Community Chapel, 3250 State Road, Sellersville, Pa., where friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.
