Biography

James Truman Ziegenfuss, Sr., was born on 25 September 1924 in Bethlehem, Northampton, Pennsylvania.1,2 He and Evelyn Anna Bonekemper were married on 15 June 1946.3 He died on 24 October 2011, at age 87, in Harrisburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.2 He was buried on 31 October 2011 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery (Section 26, Site 5), Annville, East HanoverTownship, Lebanon, Pennsylvania.2
U.S. Army Signal Corps- WWll- 23 Nov 1942-11 Dec 1945.4 James Truman Ziegenfuss, Sr., was educated Moravian and Ursinus Colleges in Pennsylvania.3 He was a Sales and Management- Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.3 James T. Ziegenfuss, Sr. passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011. He was born on September 25, 1924 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Nathan and Flora Ziegenfuss. He married Evelyn Bonekemper in 1946, they were married for 60 years until her death in 2006. James highly valued his World War II service in the Army Signal Corps, traveling throughout Europe.
A graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem, he attended Moravian and Ursinus Colleges in Pennsylvania. He worked for 25+ years in sales and management for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Retiring in 1977, he stayed connected through the Metropolitan Veterans group. Enjoying the work and the teams, he developed a second career in accounting and finance for an additional 15 years.
He was a lifelong fisherman and the strongest of fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. While raising his family in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, he attended games in Philadelphia and continued to support the team on moving to Harrisburg.
For the past three years he has been living and thriving at Kindred Place. He was an active organizer and volunteer as well as resident. Deeply devoted to friends and staff, he was recently recognized for his contributions and service to the Kindred community.
James is survived by his three sons: James, Jr. and wife Margaret of Harrisburg, Donald and wife Celia of Tampa, Florida and Robert and wife Lynn of Shippensburg. He has seven grandchildren: Kate and husband Peter Sharpe of Riverdale, Maryland; Sarah and husband Robert Harvey of Seattle, Washington; James III of New York, New York; Deirdre Ziegenfuss of West Palm Beach, Florida; Dan Russell of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; Tim Waltman of New York City; and Todd Waltman of Hanover, Pennsylvania. He also has two great grandchildren, Caleb and Camilla Sharpe.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 2-3 p.m. at the Dailey Funeral Home, 650 28th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103. Services will begin at 3 p.m. with a private burial with military honors for family members on Monday, at Indiantown Gap. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Kindred Place, 4700 Oakhurst Blvd, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
The Dailey Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ziegenfuss family.

Gladys A. Snover, 84, died on Friday, Feb. 20,2009, at home. Born in Sandyston, Mrs. Snover was a life long resident of Branchville. She was a homemaker.

The daughter of the late John and Elsie LeHomadieu Utter, Mrs. Snover was also predeceased by her husband, John (Hap) J. Snover, Jr., on July 2, 2008.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail Martin and her husband Alan, and Glenda Flanagan, all of Hampton; two brothers, Howard Utter and his wife Karen and Kenneth Belcher and his wife Carol, of Branchville; a sister, Kay Meyer and her husband Ronnie, of Frankford; two grandchildren, Kiersten Morrison and John Flanagan and his wife, Lisa; and one great-great- grandchild, Collin Flanagan; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main Street, Branchville. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment willl be held at a later date.
