Biography

Cleo Joyce Weber was born on 12 August 1929 in Pontiac, Livingston, Illinois.1 She and Auldon (Bucky) Delmar Helgeson were married on 6 June 1948 in Pontiac, Livingston, Illinois. She died on 10 December 2010, at age 81, in Kankakee County, Illinois.1 She was buried in Kankakee Memorial Gardens and Chapel Mausoleum, Kankakee, Kankakee, Illinois.1
Cleo Joyce Weber was a Kankakee County Health Department. Cleo J. Helgeson, 81, of Bradley, entered into the kingdom of Heaven Friday (Dec. 10, 2010). Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Patty Heath will officiate.

Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Aroma Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

Mrs. Helgeson retired from the Kankakee County Health Department after 25 years as an administrative secretary. She was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Pontiac, the daughter of Lewis and Alice Duffy Weber. Her husband, Auldon D. "Bucky" Helgeson, whom she married June 6, 1948, in Pontiac, passed away Nov. 23, 1993. She served in the area as a community judge and was a political Republican activist. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and needlepoint.

Surviving are one son, Roger Helgeson, of Bradley; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Scott Powers, of Brookport; four grandchildren, Becki and Terry Hull, Brandon and Tanya Powers, Todd Powers and Tabetha Hall, Melissa Helgeson; and six great-grandchildren, Aric Karraker, Auldonie Hull, Keri Powers, Sammie Powers, Hannah Soper and Benjamin Soper Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents. (Pd.)

Auldon (Bucky) Delmar Helgeson was born on 27 May 1927 in Cherryvale, Montgomery, Kansas.1 He and Cleo Joyce Weber were married on 6 June 1948 in Pontiac, Livingston, Illinois. He died on 23 November 1993, at age 66, in Maywood, Cook, Illinois.1 He was buried in Kankakee Memorial Gardens and Chapel Mausoleum, Kankakee, Kankakee, Illinois.1

PONTIAC - Auldon D. "Bucky", 66, of Bradley, formerly of Pontiac, a pipe fitter, died Tuesday (November 23, 1993) at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Hertz-Thoma Memorial Gardens, Kankakee, with military rites by Aroma Park F Troop.

Mr. Helgeson was born May 27, 1927, in Cherryvale, Kans., a son of Harlan and Hannah Hamilton, Helgeson. He married Cleo J. Weber, June 6, 1948, in Pontiac. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sandy Powers, Kankakee; one son, Roger Helgeson, Bradley; his stepmother, Marie Helgeson, Kankakee; two sisters, Karen Denoyer, Bradley, and Donna Green, Florida; three brothers, Harlan Helgeson, Bourbonnais; Robert Helgeson, Bradley; and Glen Helgeson, Arizona; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Helgeson was a pipe fitter and a member of Local 383 of United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada.

He also was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Kankakee; the Kankakee Loyal Order of Moose Lodge; and Peotone Masonic Lodge 636. Mr. Helgeson was an avid bowler and was a member of the Marycrest Businessmen's Bowling League. He enjoyed woodworking.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.
