Rapp (Bowman), Mary Edith

81, of Springfield, passed away December 27, 2014 at Friends Care Community in Yellowl Springs after a long illness. She was born September 16, 1933 in Ironton, Ohio to Albert L. and Edith (Ratliff) Bowman. She is survived by her six children: Linn Bobo, Yellow Springs, Kimberly (Bob) Peterson, Trona, CA., Mike (Beverly) Rapp, Aiken, SC, Karl (Linda) Rapp, Springfield, Robert (Kim) Rapp, Joshua, TX, Diana Davidson (Mike Boyts), Springfield, 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, brother; Ted (Charlene) Grosvenor, Kansas, sisters: Sue (Larry) Baldwin and Judi Hershey both of Springfield, step sister, Mary Ellen (Hershey) Bocanigia, Toledo, Ohio and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, especially her old Lagonda neighborhood gang. She was preceded in death by her parents, step dad; Samuel Hershey, four brothers; Albert, John, Charles and Baby William Bowman and her first husband; Gene Rapp. Mary was a 1951 graduate of Springfield High School and had worked at Big Bear. She was a long time member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, a member of the Eagles, Moose, Elderly United and managed the Sertoma Bingo Hall and Thrift Store and was a familiar face in many Bingo games. She was a dedicated volunteer for many organizations. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in the Jones-Kenney- Zechman Funeral Home with Mary's son, Pastor Mike Rapp officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial wil follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.

He was a member of Sweetwater County Club, PGA, Partners Club, VFW and American Legion. He attended Calvary Chapel of Aiken. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Rapp, a sister, Rosina McClelland, 6 children; Linn Bobo, Kimberly Peterson, Michael Rapp, Karl Rapp, Beth Davisson and Melissa Rapp, 2 stepdaughters; Rhonda Summers and Brenda Thornton, 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Calvary Chapel of Aiken. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Cockrell; adopted daughter, ReJean Sweeney; grandchildren, Garrett and Sonja Knisley; brother, Rickey Lee Shaw; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Eugene; brother, Floyd T. Cockrell; sister, Mary “Peachie” Foulke; and her parents.
