2 Charles E. Witty of Towaco died Saturday at the Morristown Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Pompton Plains, Jan. 6, 1895, he was a resident of Towaco for the last 57 years. He had been employed as a maintenance man with Marotta Engineering Co., Boonton.
Mr. Witty was an active warden of the Towaco Fire Department; an exempt member of the New Jersey Firemen's Association and secretary of the North Jersey Volunteer Firemen's Association.
Surviving besides his widow, Helen Slockbouer Witte of Towaco, is his father, Ward Witte of Montville; two sons, Charles T. of Woodmere, Long Island, N.Y., and Albert Ward Witte of Towaco; six brothers, Donald of Boonton, William F., of Wallingford, Conn., Stanley of Waterbury, Conn., Duance of Toledo, Ohio, Robert of Towaco and Ralph of Montville and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Bartholomay of Boonton and Mrs. Edward McGuire of Boonton Township.
Private funeral services will be held at the funeral home, 312 West Main St., Boonton, today at 4 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. The Rev. G. Heemstra, pastor of the Pompton Reformed Church, will officiate.
The Towaco Fire Department will hold memorial services at the funeral home tonight at 8 o'clock.
