5 William “Bill” Earl Bovencamp, 89, of Lewiston, died Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Life Care Center of Lewiston.
Bill was born July 2, 1929, to Anna Marie and Earnest Bovencamp, in Kendrick. He was raised on Little Bear Ridge on the family farm with three siblings, Ray, Melvin, and Eldora.
In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
He married his first wife, Patricia, and had two sons, Patrick and Kelvin Bovencamp. He and Pat later divorced.
Bill married Charlene and had a daughter, Earlene Ann Bovencamp. He also gained stepchildren Michael Dickey, Cory Dickey, Kevin Dickey, and Debbie Dickey. They later divorced.
In 1980, he married May, gaining four more stepchildren, Cindy Hill, Cheryl Knight, Connie Sander, and Phillip Sander.
Dad was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed everything about it, from huckleberries to mushrooms, cutting wood, rock and driftwood collecting. He loved camping, fishing and elk hunting, gardening at home and always had the best looking lawn on the block. He cherished and loved his entire family.
In his life, he worked at a bakery, farming, millwork and as a handyman. He retired from A-P Green in Troy, and soon after he and May moved to Lewiston.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, May J. Bovencamp; three siblings; and son Phillip Sander.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. June 8 at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.
