Merle Eugene Bach was born on 9 February 1930 in Lawrence County, Illinois.1 He and Charlene Moore were married on 26 September 1964.2 He died on 23 July 2015, at age 85, in Lawrenceville, Lawrence, Illinois.2,1 He was buried in Lawrenceville City Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Lawrence, Illinois.1
Merle Eugene Bach was a Farmer.2 U.S. Army- Korean War.2 Merle E. Bach, age 85, of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville. He was born February 9, 1930, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of George E. and Ida Irene (Haines) Bach. He married Charlene Moore on September 26, 1964, and she survives.

Merle was a lifelong farmer who also drove a school bus for Unit #20 School District. He was a lifetime member of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church and was very active in the church, having served as Deacon and participating in the church singing group.

Merle was a veteran with the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

Preceding Merle in death were his parents; two brothers, George Bach and Charles Melvin Bach and two sisters, MayBelle Roberts and Wanda Bach.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene of rural Lawrenceville; two sons, Michael Bach and wife Ginny of Tampa, Florida and, Ronald Stevenson and wife Gina of rural Lawrenceville; three daughters, Nicki Carter Stevenson of Lawrenceville, Terri Carr of Macon, Illinois and Janis Coffman of Texas; one brother, Richard Bach of rural Lawrenceville; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with two on the way.

Funeral services at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Burial in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.

She died on 1 May 2012, at age 90, in Fairfield, Wayne, Illinois. She was buried in Crest Haven Memorial Park, Claremont, Richland, Illinois.1

Shirley Ann VanGilder

Funeral services for Shirley Ann VanGilder, 67, were held March 13 at Vase Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

She died March 7 at the Avalon Valley Rehabilitation Center in Salt Lake City. She had battled cancer since February of 2005.

She was born Aug. 29, 1938, in Bridgeport, Ill., the daughter of John Wesley Moore, Jr. and Gladys (Inyart) Moore.

She attended school in Sumner, Ill., and she graduated from high school there with the class of 1956. She married James VanGilder on June 29, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Sumner.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing for the kids, reading, NASCAR racing and spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, her mother, Gladys Kimmel of Sumner; two daughters and their husbands, Regina Lanning of Perryton, Texas and Teresa McCaslin of Big Piney; one brother Larry Brock of Carmi, Ill.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Shirley Ann Van Gilder

ROCK SPRINGS Shirley Ann Van Gilder, 67, of 217 Van Buren St., Rock Springs, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the Avalon Valley Rehabilitation Center in Salt Lake City. A resident of Rock Springs for the past 10 years and former resident of Sumner, Ill., Mrs. Van Gilder died following a battle with cancer since February 2005.

She was born on Aug. 29, 1938, in Bridgeport, Ill., the daughter of John Wesley Moore Jr. and Gladys (Inyart) Moore.

Mrs. Van Gilder attended school in Sumner and was a graduate of the high school with the class of 1956.

She married James Van Gilder on June 29, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Sumner.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing for kids, reading, NASCAR racing and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, James; her mother, Gladys Kimmel of Sumner; two daughters, Regina Lanning and husband Stan of Perryton, Texas and Teresa McCaslin and husband Rick of Big Piney; one brother, Larry Brock of Carmi, Ill.; four grandchildren, Chris Lanning and wife Kathy, Matt Lanning, Deidre Denison and husband Chris and Chandra McCaslin; and one great-grandson, Isaac Lanning.

She was preceded in death by her father, John; and one brother, Jerry Brock.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. The Rev. Phil Meadows will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the chapel Monday one hour prior to services.

Her dad and one brother, Jerry Brock, preceded her in death.
