Marcus Oliver Schaefer, 68, of Scotrun and Belleview, Fla., died Thursday in Munroe Regional Medical Center, Belleview, Fla. He was the husband of Ernestine (Litts) Schaefer to whom he had been married for over 48 years.
Born on June 3, 1929 in Nazareth, he was the son of the late Charles and Hilda (Bast) Schaefer and had lived in the area most of his life and was a part time resident of Belleview, Fla., for the past twelve years. He was a self-employed carpenter and builder.
He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Stroudsburg, the Barger Lodge 325 F. & A.M., Stroudsburg, and the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Linda Lesoine, wife of Jack Lesoine, Jr., of Stroudsburg, Kitty Possinger, wife of Nyles Possinger of Stroudsburg, Tina Schaefer of Mohnton, Pa., and Amy Jo Schaefer of Bushkill; a son, Mark Schaefer of Los Angeles, Calif,; two brothers, Charles Schaefer, Jr., of Nazareth and Harold Schaefer of Stockertown; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joseph Barth officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church, 1160 Hill Street, Stroudsburg, 18360.

George James Litts was a Self Employed- Sales- Owner/Operator Outdoor Billboard Company.1 George J. Litts, 77, of Stroud Township, died Saturday afternoon, January 14, at St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township. He was the husband of Marilyn (Groner) Litts with whom he shared 58 years of marriage on December 30, 2011.
Born on October 13, 1934 in Easton he was the son of the late James and Virginia (Counterman) Litts and lived in Monroe County for most of his life.
He served in the United States Army in the early 1950's.
George was self-employed working in sales and also owned and operated an outdoor billboard company. After retiring he was a private driver.
He was inducted into the East Stroudsburg High School Hall of Fame and was an avid Cavalier and Dallas Cowboy fan. George was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Stroud Township; a member of the Barger Lodge #325 F&AM and was a former active member of the B.P.O. Elks #319 in East Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, J. Richard Litts of Walnutport, Cheryl Hahn and her husband Keith of Jonas and James A. Litts and his wife Lisa of Effort; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a sister, Ernestine Schaefer of Scotrun. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Smallacombe.
There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00AM Thursday, January 19, at Faith United Methodist Church, Hill Street, Stroudsburg. The Barger Lodge #325 will conduct a masonic service at 11:00AM Thursday at the church which will be followed by religious services with the Rev. Amy Banka officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mountain Laurel Mausoleum at Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to Animal Welfare Society of Monroe (A.W.S.O.M.), P.O. Box 13, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or to American Diabetes Association, 65 East Elizabeth Avenue, suite 502, Bethlehem, PA 18018.

She taught at Cumru Elementary School in the Governor Mifflin School District, Reading, for the past 11 years. Previously, she taught school in Monroe County for several years. She received a bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University and a master's degree in education from Kutztown University.

Born in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of Ernestine (Litts) Schaefer of Scotrun and Marcus O. Schaefer, who died in 1998.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Stroud Township

She was a member of the Governor Mifflin Education Association, serving on various committees and the Instructional Support Team, Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association. She helped Governor Mifflin to achieve the Blue Ribbon award this year.

She had coached a YMCA girls softball team for many years.

Survivors: Husband; mother; infant daughter, Christina M.; sister, Linda Lesoine and Kitty Possinger, both of Stroudsburg, Amy Jo of Delaware Water Gap; brother, Mark of Los Angeles, Calif.; nieces, nephews.
