Born in Branchdale, she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Devers Weir.
Ruth was educated in Reilly Township schools and was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family.
She was a member of the former St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Branchdale, and a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; a sister, Florence Volk; five brothers, William, Arthur, Russell, Wesley and Melvin Weir.

She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Averill, Pottsville, Ellen Wright and her husband, T.L., Seaford, Del., and Ann Fountain and her husband, Don, Orlando, Fla.; a son, Al Puches, Reading, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Brian, Eric and Laura Puches, Emily and Natalie Wright, and Meredith Averill and Andrew Fountain; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, 139 Spruce St., Minersville, with the Rev. Leo J. Maletz as the celebrant. Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary Star of the Sea Cemetery, Llewellyn. Donald J. He was retired from PP&L, where he was a lineman.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Weir and Earl Weir.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Georgine Allen; three daughters, Yvonne Weir, Pottsville, Denise Kauffman and her husband, Roger, Leesport, and Corinne Bauer, Macungie; two sons, Jeffrey Weir and his companion, Robin, Temple, and Kevin Weir and his wife, Sandy, Reno, Nev.; seven grandchildren, Marissa and Morgan Kauffman, Ashley Bauer, Matthew Weir and his wife, Christine, Jack and Olivia Weir and Carissa Wallace; a great-grandson, Hunter Raymond Weir; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Olenick.
