Born on Oct. 7, 1921, in Bushkill, he was a son of the late Eli V. and Annie (Schoonover) Schoonover.
Stewart was both self-employed and employed by others as a carpenter and woodworker.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving in England from 1942 to 1945.
Stewart graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1938.
He was a member of Reformed Church of Bushkill and a member of Newman Smith American Legion Post 514. Additionally, he served one term as school board director for Lehman Township and three terms as Lehman Township supervisor.
In addition to his wife Maude, he is survived by a son, Stephen W. Schoonover and his wife, Jennifer, of Bushkill; two grandsons, Christopher Schoonover, of Stow, Ohio, and Jonathan Schoonover of Bushkill; two great-granddaughters, Kayla Schoonover and Eliza Schoonover; a sister, Jeanette Schoonover of Bushkill; and a brother, Ernest Schoonover of Lakeland, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four sisters: Olive Reidmiller, Frances DePue, Emily Howey and Mabel Treible; and a brother, Albert Schoonover.

A 1930 graduate of Stroudsburg High School, she was employed as a cook at Eldred Elementary School, Kunkletown. After that, she worked at Polk Elementary School, Kresgeville, for 16 years before retiring in 1980. She also worked as a waitress at the Effort Diner for four years.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Effort, and the Lutheran Church Women.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Stanley Treible of Walnutport; two daughters, Ruth Ann Myers of Hawley and Dorothy Gower of Effort; two brothers, Stewart Schoonover of Bushkill and Ernest Schoonover of Florida; a sister, Jeanette Schoonover of Bushkill; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Treible; one brother, Albert Schoonover; and three sisters, Olive Riedmiller, Frances DePue and Emily Howey.

He had been the caretaker at the Seneca Hunt Camp in Effort for 30 years, retiring in 1977. He also owned and operated Treible Electric for 10 years and prior to that he had worked at Paterson-Kelly in East Stroudsburg for 10 years.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, in Effort.
He is survived by a son, Stanley Treible, of Walnutport; two daughters, Ruth Ann Myers of Hawley and Dorothy Gower of Effort; a sister, Evelyn Taylor of Stroudsburg; two half-brothers, Harry B. Treible of Stroudsburg and James Treible of East Stroudsburg; a half-sister, Clara Gilmartin of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Treible.

She is survived by her son, William A. Riedmiller Sr. of Bushkill; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stewart E. Schoonover of Bushkill and Ernest A. Schoonover of Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters, Jeanette Vonmiller of Bushkill and Mabel Treible of Effort; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Franklin J. Riedmiller.
