3 Raymond G. SABO, of 1229 Birkbeck St., Freeland, died Thursday evening at Hazleton General Hospital.
Bornin Sandy Run, he was the son of the late Michael W. and Anna (Wargo) Sabo, and lived in Morton, Delaware County, before relocating to Freeland in 1979.
Durig World War II, he was a private first class in the Army 23rd Infantry. He served in Northern France and the Rhineland and received the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the European/Africa/Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was a member of American Legion Post 473 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5010.
Before retiring, he was a bus operator for the Red Arrow Transportation Line, Philadelphia.
He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, Freeland, the Arbutis Lodge 611, and the Eckley Social and Sports Club.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was brother, Robert.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Eleanor Boggs; a son James E. Brunke, South Carolina; a daughter, Linda Lerro, Delaware County; brothers, Albert, Florida, Arthur, California, John, White Haven, and Martin, New Jersey; sisters, Mrs. Anna Mae Hance, Delaware, and Mrs. Roman (Martha) Skatula, Wyoming; two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. from the McHugh-Wilczek Funeral Home, 249 Centre St., Freeland. The Rev. William O'Hara will conduct services at 1 p.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, Freeland.
