Biography

Mary Shawhan Lail was born on 30 July 1890 in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana. She and Joseph Alexander Archer were married on 25 December 1912.1 She died on 28 March 1972, at age 81, in Rural, Wayne, Indiana.
Mrs. Mary L. Archer, 81, died Tuesday morning in Richmond. She formerly resides on R. 1, Falmouth.

Mrs. Archer was born July 30, 1890, in Rush County, the daughter of George and Rozzie Glidden Lail. She was married to Joseph A. Archer on Decenber 25, 1912. They resided in Indianapolis a short time before moving to Rushville. Mr. Archer died in 1968.

Surviving is a son, Joseph G. R. 1, Falmouth, three daughters, Mrs. Johm (Dorcas) Hufferd, Yorba Linda, California, Arrabella Fultz and Mrs. Harold (Jacqueline) Heavin, Boulder, Colorado; and 12 grandchildren. A daughter, Rozza E., preceded her in death.

Private funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wyatt-Moore-Milam Mortuary, with Ralph Byers officiaiting. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Raleigh.

There will be no visitation.

Charles Albert Brownell was born on 8 June 1892 in Wyoming, Hamilton, Ohio. He and Augusta Belle Lail were married on 16 November 1913 in Marion County, Indiana.1 He was married on 4 February 1962.2 He died on 13 June 1984, at age 92, in Tennessee. He was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Bradley County, Tennessee.2

George Stinson Brownell was born on 1 May 1915 in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana. He and Marjorie Ann Hill were married on 31 May 1941 in Indiana.1 He died on 22 April 2012, at age 96, in Lancaster, Los Angeles, California.
George Stinson Brownell was educated Butler University.1 US Navy-WWII- 1943.1 George S. Brownell, 96, a Rush County resident most of his life, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at his son's home in Lancaster, CA.

He was born on May 1, 1915 in Indianapolis, IN to Charles & Augusta (Lail) Brownell. George was a 1933 graduate of Raleigh High School and attended Butler University before joining the US Navy in 1943, serving in WW2. He married Marjorie A. Hill on May 31, 1941 and she preceded him in death on February 8, 2010.

He was a 50+ year member of Main Street Christian Church, a member of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge #7 F&AM and member of the Sigma Nu fraternity at Butler. George worked from 1951-1980 at the Ford dealership in Rushville where he was a salesman.

George is survived by his sons, Stinson Brownell of Richmond, John Clark & wife Jeanette Brownell of Lancaster, CA and his daughters, Bonnie Montgomery of Laguna Beach, CA and Rita Reed of Brownsburg, IN, 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a half-sister, Genia Mull.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in the Raleigh Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street Christian Church.

Marjorie Ann Hill was educated Richmond Business College.1 She was awarded a Business Degree.1 Marjorie Ann Brownell, 91, of Rushville, died Feb. 8, 2010.

Born March 13, 1918 in Rush County, she was the daughter of Sherman and Ruth (Miles) Hill, both deceased. She married George Brownell May 31, 1941; he survives.

Mrs. Brownell worked in the Recorder and Assessor offices of the Rush County Courthouse for several years. She also had worked at Standard Oil in Rushville. She was a 50+ year member of Main Street Christian Church, a 1936 graduate of Raleigh High School, and attained a Business degree from Richmond Business College.

Survivors in addition to her husband include sons, Stinson Brownell of Centerville and John Clark Brownell of Lancaster, Calif.; daughters, Bonnie Montgomery of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Rita Reed of Danville; sister, Isabell Dill of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Albert, and a sister, June Hill.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Pastor Steve Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh's Zion Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Saturday at the mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Main Street Christian Church.

George Stinson Brownell III, 77 of Rush County, passed away on March 16, 2020 in Muncie. He was born on March 31, 1942 in New Castle, IN to the late George and Marjorie A. (Hill) Brownell. Stinson was a 1960 graduate of Rushville High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1961-1966 as a navigator on the USS Washburn. Stinson came back to farm in Rush County in the late 70s.
Stinson is survived by his loving sons, Chris (Shelly) Brownell of Pendleton and Stinson Brownell IV of Hamilton, Ohio; grandchildren, Drew Brownell, Brad Brownell, Landon Brownell, and Taylor (Kaleb) McCracken; siblings, Bonnie Montgomery of Laguna Beach, CA; John (Jeanette Brownell) of Lancaster, CA; and Rita Reid of Brownsburg, IN.
George is preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Tandi Brownell.
Celebration of Life will be at Chris & Shelly's home on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 2 PM. Services have been entrusted to Moster Mortuary.
